Historia
In the last two presidential elections about 8 in 10 evangelicals voted for Donald Trump, but can Kamala Harris steal some of those votes in 2024? We discuss the recent “Evangelicals for Harris” call and why it’s so difficult to get Christians to think more theologically about politics. Ed Stetzer argues that abortion should still be a top priority when voting, and Tyler Huckabee says we should be uncomfortable endorsing any candidate. Then, Skye talks to New Testament professor, Dr. Gary Burge, about the ongoing Israeli/Palestinian conflict, and what the Bible really says about Israel...

Current Issues, Thoughtful Discussion
Revisado: 09-05-24
Current issues are discussed thoughtfully and with respect for others’ perspectives. Some topics presume that listeners are at least familiar with prevailing Evangelical Church thinking without explaining the nuances. I’d love to hear discussion that addresses contradictions in Evangelical thinking, such as right to life while defending 2nd Amendment rights or justifying the belief that poverty is a choice while ignoring the connection to criminal behavior and supporting the justice of incarceration and/or the death penalty.

Historia
Kentucky, 1850. An enslaved groom named Jarret and a bay foal forge a bond of understanding that will carry the horse to record-setting victories across the South. When the nation erupts in civil war, an itinerant young artist who has made his name on paintings of the racehorse takes up arms for the Union. On a perilous night, he reunites with the stallion and his groom, very far from the glamor of any racetrack.

Couldn’t Stop Listening
Revisado: 04-24-24
The Horse and the human characters were equally compelling. Brooks unfolded the story through perspectives that spanned generations, giving currency to history.

Be inspired by the whimsical world of VeggieTales like never before with Me, Myself, and Bob by Phil Vischer. This memoir is not just a tale; it’s a heartfelt adventure that unfolds the incredible journey of dreaming big, facing monumental challenges, and ultimately finding true success. Phil Vischer, the mastermind behind those beloved animated vegetables as well as creator of The Holy Post, What's in the Bible, and The Mr. Phil Show, candidly shares his story of spectacular success, breathtaking failure, and the whispered answers from God that came after shouted questions.

Humility Wins
Revisado: 02-24-24
A grand, good dream is put into perspective through Vischer’s creative journey with Bob and Larry. His transparency about his struggles is evidence that humility, rather than creative genius, (although that’s true, too) is his most defining quality.

Descriptions of settings and characters drew me into the story. David’s dreams and memories were as vivid as if they had hatched in my own brain. I found myself talking out loud to the characters, begging them to see beyond their immediate challenges. Ultimately, the story is a reminder that each of us must experience and learn our own lessons.

Historia
Thirty years ago, Wilde was found as a boy living feral in the woods, with no memory of his past. Now an adult, he still doesn't know where he comes from, and another child has gone missing. No one seems to take Naomi Pine's disappearance seriously, not even her father - with one exception. Hester Crimstein, a television criminal attorney, knows through her grandson that Naomi was relentlessly bullied at school. Hester asks Wilde - with whom she shares a tragic connection - to use his unique skills to help find Naomi.

Compelling Plot
Revisado: 11-07-23
Coban knows how to keep the plot going until the end. There were lots of subplots to keep track of and characters were mostly thoroughly developed. Yes, there were political threads—good to keep the story rooted in relevant current events. The ending felt a bit rushed, with not much time to resolve all the subplots, but overall a good read.

Historia
Here is the story of Klara, an Artificial Friend with outstanding observational qualities, who, from her place in the store, watches carefully the behavior of those who come in to browse, and of those who pass on the street outside. She remains hopeful that a customer will soon choose her. Klara and the Sun is a thrilling book that offers a look at our changing world through the eyes of an unforgettable narrator, and one that explores the fundamental question: What does it mean to love?

If I had read the book in print, I wouldn’t have been able to stop until the end. Klara stole my heart!
