Historia
When Jack and Elizabeth meet as college students in the '90s, the two quickly join forces and hold on tight, each eager to claim a place in Chicago’s thriving underground art scene with an appreciative kindred spirit. Fast-forward twenty years to married life, and alongside the challenges of parenting they encounter cults disguised as mindfulness support groups, polyamorous would-be suitors, Facebook wars, and something called Love Potion Number Nine. For the first time, Jack and Elizabeth struggle to recognize one another, and the no-longer-youthful dreamers are forced to face their demons.

The story and the writing

I Thoroughly enjoyed the storyline. Well written and thought provoking. Would have enjoyed different narrators.

Historia
Life throws a lot of unexpected and unpleasant things at us. Many people just struggle on, but others find someone to talk to, someone like Stephen Joseph, who, as a therapist, is trained to listen to their concerns. They turn up with problems—failing relationships, stalled careers, conflicts, feelings of upset—that all seem very real to them in the moment. They may say they just want to 'get back to normal' or 'get back on track'. But sometimes the truth is that things have changed too much to go back.

Truths to ponder
Revisado: 08-09-23
Very helpful and thought provoking. Gives the reader a chance to think about and review how we show up in our lives.
The narrator’s voice is monotonous and I kept zoning out but the story kept me interested.
This book is for someone looking to make changes in their lives and is ready to deal with the man in the mirror.
