Historia
Joe Leaphorn may be long retired from the Navajo Tribal Police, but his detective skills are still sharp, honed by his work as a private detective. His experience will be essential to solve a compelling new case: finding the birth parents of a woman who was raised by a bilagáana family but believes she is Diné based on one solid clue, an old photograph with a classic Navajo child’s blanket.

Lost Birds
Revisado: 05-14-24
This story has ticked all boxes of thriller, mystery, family values, and the continuing saga of our favorite characters, Leaphorn, Chee, and Bernie. I honestly experienced high anxiety from one segment of the adventure, ergo a roller coaster ride. The most important value for me is the familiar favorite character development that soothes me over the years. Ann and her father have the ultimate gift of storytelling that sweeps you away from everything. Thank you ever so much for providing this gift. I started the Hillerman journey in 1992 from a reading assignment in college. I will also be forever grateful to that instructor that opened this door.

Historia
Homicide is always an abomination, but there is something exceptionally disturbing about the victim discovered in a high, lonely place: a corpse with a mouth full of sand, abandoned at a crime scene seemingly devoid of tracks or useful clues. Though it goes against his better judgment, Navajo tribal police lieutenant Joe Leaphorn cannot help but suspect the hand of a supernatural killer.

Tony and his daughter, Ann HILLERMAN are great story tellers. I was introduced to Tony Hillerman’s book in 1990. And would anxiously await his next on. How grateful I am than Ann continues the saga. To have it read to me in audiobooks is a dream come true.

Ghost stories and original legends
Revisado: 02-19-23
I fell asleep to the entire book until the last story that woke me to the three knocks. I’m 70. I moved to Oahu at 18. In my 20’s I rented a room in Hawaii Kai from a single parent I worked with in Hawaii Kai. It was a make shift room to accommodate me. I fell asleep one night and woke to a suffocating pressure to my chest. I couldn’t call out and couldn’t breathe. I managed to drag myself to the floor and to my co workers bedroom entrance that took forever,as if dragging myself through a mud pit. . I was drenched in sweat. I made it to the entrance to my co worker’s bedroom entrance and still couldn’t talk. I thought I was having a nightmare. Until I woke up the next morning lying on the floor of my co workers bedroom entrance. I never slept in that space again. There were many legends in the islands. I respected them. I thought that part of the house may have been built on sacred ground. I don’t know if I ever told the co worker but slept downstairs in her closed in lanai. Steve’s story had me captive and I was so relieved that there were explanations at the end. I don’t like my proper name, Kimberlee. I liked it less in the story. Well written. Freaked me out, And triggered one of my buried traumas.

A WORLD OF CURIOSITIES
Revisado: 12-08-22
This is a whirlwind of intense storytelling mystery. My opinion her most edge of seat high anxiety listening. The narrator was brilliant and at times I had to stop listening because my anxiety was high as I was pulled into the scene. Absolute applause. Normally, when a story has my anxiety triggered I go straight to the ending to bring my anxiety down. I refused and bravely proceeded because each detail was paramount to the storyline. Ms Louise Penny, you surpassed all your previous work with this creation. Noting the excellence of your prior work. Robert Bathurst, you were spectacular in bringing this story alive.

Historia
Molly’s policeman husband, Daniel, is late returning home. He comes with a tale to tell: There was a murder on Ellis Island that day, and the main suspect is the spitting image of Molly. The circumstances are eerily similar to when Molly herself arrived on Ellis Island, and she can’t help but feel a sense of fate. Molly was meant to be there that day so that she can clear this woman’s name.

Rhys Bowen Molly Murphy Mystery Series
Revisado: 05-23-22
Novel 18 2022. Wild Irish Rose. I love when a series of books create endearing characters and when you get to the last one written, it’s bittersweet. I have so enjoyed this authors creativity. Now I’ll venture out to other books she has written outside the Molly Murphy Mysteries. Hopefully another will be written. Thank you.

Molly Murphy series
Revisado: 05-22-22
The Molly Murphy series started out a bit slow and then transitioned in tempo to anxiety producing brilliant mystery story telling while weaving in the women’s movement struggles that continue to be relevant in 2022. My fav author, Louise Penny recommended Rhys Bowen in her May newsletter and her books have captivated my full attention through the month of May. The narrator is superb. I highly recommend both authors.

I first read all of Mr Hillerman’s books starting in 1993 while attending college. It was required reading. I was hooked. Now I’m reliving the stories through audible. Audibles narrator is soothing and perfect to present these classic novels. The books carry new meaning for me after all these years. The Navaho were so connected to the necessary healings of sickness that people give other people. The respect that is lost to bilagaana. Thank you for providing this in audible.
