Historia
Author Beth Fantaskey injects a little humor into the vampire romance genre with this critically acclaimed debut novel. High school senior Jessica Packwood is a down-to-earth mathlete who's not sure what her future holds. What she definitely doesn't see coming is foreign exchange student - and vampire - Lucius Vladescu showing up at her door. According to Lucius, Jessica is actually vampire royalty, and they've been betrothed to one another since infancy.

Not just another Twilight
Revisado: 12-09-16
I was skeptical of this, but the story isn't just another Twilight. It's funny in a witty and dark way, and it's a strong addition to vampire stories. I really enjoyed this listen!

Finished in less than 2 days
Revisado: 09-13-16
The first few lines are rough, with the character's accent, but your ear adjusts and you're sucked into the story and you won't want to stop listening. I couldn't stop and finished the book in less than 2 days. It was amazing.

Seventeen-year-old Aidan Lockwood lives in the sleepy farming community of Temperance, Ohio - known for its cattle ranches and not much else. That is, until Jarrod, a friend he hasn't seen in five years, moves back to town and opens Aidan's eyes in startling ways: to Aidan's ability to see the spirit world; to the red-bearded specter of Death; to a family curse that has claimed the lives of the Lockwood men one by one...and to the new feelings he has developed for Jarrod.

Slow to start but worth it!
Revisado: 07-05-16
The narration is fabulous. The story is a bit slow at the beginning, I almost gave up on it. But, once it gets going, it's great and you'll be hooked!

Historia
In the town of Placid, Wisconsin, in 1871, Georgie Burkhardt is known for two things: her uncanny aim with a rifle and her habit of speaking her mind plainly. But when Georgie blurts out something she shouldn't, her older sister Agatha flees, running off with a pack of "pigeoners" trailing the passenger pigeon migration. And when the sheriff returns to town with an unidentifiable body - wearing Agatha's blue-green ball gown - everyone assumes the worst.... Except Georgie.

Setting, story, narration: all solid!
Revisado: 07-09-14
Just about perfect. The story is great, with a strong setting that reveals the peacefulness and wildness of the west at once. The main character is strong and sassy and smart and irresponsible, but completely like-able. Mystery and adventure are weaved into the story, and I just guarantee that you'll love it! I'm SERIOUS about my audiobooks, and this one is a big hit!

Historia
Kyle Keeley is the class clown, popular with most kids, (if not the teachers), and an ardent fan of all games: board games, word games, and particularly video games. His hero, Luigi Lemoncello, the most notorious and creative game maker in the world, just so happens to be the genius behind the building of the new town library. Lucky Kyle wins a coveted spot to be one of the first 12 kids in the library for an overnight of fun, food, and lots and lots of games. But when morning comes, the doors remain locked.

Good ideas, awkward application
Revisado: 07-09-14
This book feels more like a description of the ultimate library with a fun game than an actual story. Yes, there's a story weaved into it, but it feels like the story is second to all of the fun ideas. The narration is a little clunky and doesn't add to the story. I am an avid audiobook listener, but I couldn't even get all the way through this one.

Good idea... but too long.
Revisado: 02-26-13
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
The book has a great concept- but it was much longer than it needed to be. At times I would "zone out", and when I came back, there hadn't been much progress. By then end of the book, I just wanted to finish! The pace didn't pick up at the end, when you knew what was going to happen at the end.
Would you be willing to try another book from Scott Westerfeld? Why or why not?
Probably not. This book was very long winded.
Did Carine Montbertrand do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?
The voices were clear, but very nasal. Some characters voices were VERY annoying.

Any additional comments?
The first part got me hooked, but by the end I just felt like it was dragging. I wanted to finish, of course, but it was a little bit of a chore to listen to the end.

Revisado: 08-10-12
Would you consider the audio edition of Unwind to be better than the print version?
Not sure
Any additional comments?
The story just really sucks you in and is totally great! The voice is very firm, almost like like an announcement over a PA system. When he does the character voices, it sounds great! It's still one of my favorite audiobooks, though!
