Historia
Late one night, exploring her father's library, a young woman finds an ancient book and a cache of yellowing letters. The letters are all addressed to "My dear and unfortunate successor", and they plunge her into a world she never dreamed of - a labyrinth where the secrets of her father's past and her mother's mysterious fate connect to an inconceivable evil hidden in the depths of history.

Historia
There may be no tidy solutions or pithy answers to life’s big challenges, but Michelle Obama believes that we can all locate and lean on a set of tools to help us better navigate change and remain steady within flux. In The Light We Carry, she opens a frank and honest dialogue with listeners, considering the questions many of us wrestle with: How do we build enduring and honest relationships? How can we discover strength and community inside our differences? What tools do we use to address feelings of self-doubt or helplessness? What do we do when it all starts to feel like too much?

Michele keeps it real as she tells her story. It was wonderful to listen to her voice in her own words.

Historia
Though Anderson Cooper has always considered himself close to his mother, his intensely busy career as a journalist for CNN and CBS affords him little time to spend with her. After she suffers a brief but serious illness at the age of ninety-one, they resolve to change their relationship by beginning a yearlong conversation unlike any they have ever had before. The result is a correspondence of surprising honesty and depth in which they discuss their lives, the things that matter to them, and what they still want to learn about each other.

Fantastic
Revisado: 11-09-22
Although I knew of Gloria Vanderbilt and Anderson Cooper, I knew very little about them. The story of their lives and their sharing of them was both generous and insightful. It also for me was reflective of my own choices in life and the perspective of age. Thank you for sharing your story!

Lukewarm
Revisado: 08-28-22
I’m sorry he and his family have experienced so much tragedy. I wanted to listen to the book to understand his side of the story ‘45’ and his minions have been spinning for years now. I’m not sure if that was accomplished. He spoke about his love for his family and his addiction. I still have questions about how he does make his living through all the, sorry to put it this way, but ‘privileged irresponsibility’. I have questions about how his children have survived and hopefully thrived in spite of his struggles and his apology / empathy for his first wife. I’m not saying I don’t feel sorry for him and his family, and I do support his father as president. Listening to the book still left me lukewarm on Hunter.
I wish them all well and hope he’s able to keep his sobriety and man up to be the father his children need and a productive member of society.

Historia
Nine African American students made history when they defied a governor and integrated an Arkansas high school in 1957. It was the photo of one of the nine trying to enter the school a young girl being taunted, harassed, and threatened by an angry mob that grabbed the world's attention and kept its disapproving gaze on Little Rock, Arkansas.

Historia
An historic literary event: the publication of a newly discovered novel, the earliest known work from Harper Lee, the beloved, best-selling author of the Pulitzer Prize-winning classic To Kill a Mockingbird. Originally written in the mid-1950s, Go Set a Watchman was the novel Harper Lee first submitted to her publishers before To Kill a Mockingbird. Assumed to have been lost, the manuscript was discovered in late 2014.

Excellence
Revisado: 11-21-21
I just finished listening to ‘Go Set a Watchman’ and to say it will be with me for quite sometime would be an understatement. So many lessons and layers to think about and grapple with. Harper Lee was a master of storytelling, history and getting in the readers (in this case listeners) soul. Reese Witherspoon’s performance was outstanding! Thank you!
