Historia
On the night of October 3, 1922, as Edith Thompson and her husband, Percy, were walking home from the theatre, a man sprang out of the darkness and stabbed Percy to death. The assailant was none other than Edith's lover, Freddy Bywaters. When the police discovered his relationship with Edith, she denied knowledge of the attack but was arrested as his accomplice. Her passionate love letters to Bywaters, read out loud at the ensuing trial, sealed her fate, even though Bywaters insisted Edith had no part in planning the murder. They were both hanged. Freddy was guilty, but was Edith?

Long winded, and distorted account
Revisado: 05-12-21
I was hoping for much better from this book, and I deeply regret buying it. A waste of money. Everyone in this book is responsible and at fault but Edith Thompson. Her barrister urged, and pleaded with her not to go into the witness box, but she would not listen, she knew better. The testimony of her lips and her pen got her hanged, despite being innocent of murder!

Almost classic Holmes and Watson!

I think the excellent cast of Simon Callow and Nicky Jensen as Holmes and Watson make this BBC series a not to listen to.

Transported back to my childhood and glad to be.
Revisado: 02-07-17
Would you listen to Famous Five: Five Go Off In A Caravan again? Why?
As a boy I read everything that Enid Blyton wrote. It was a rite of passage for people of my generation. As you grew a little older you went from the Secret Seven books to The Five Finder Outers series to reading The Famous Five.
What did you like best about this story?
The joy of a long forgotten time and the sort of children's stories I grew up with, having the kind of adventures which I always hoped that someday I and my friends would have.
Have you listened to any of Jan Francis’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
This is the first Jan Francis performances I have heard, and I would happily listen to others, she does a great job.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes
Any additional comments?
Would love to be able to obtain other titles in this series, so far I can find only one other, please add more.

Nostalgic fun
Revisado: 02-07-17
Where does The Tales of Max Carrados rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
I am enjoying this set so very much, and as you might expect Stephen Fry's narration enhances the enjoyment so much.
What does Stephen Fry bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Fry has a wonderful voice and does a terrific job making the written word come alive.
Any additional comments?
It is easy to see how this blind detective was at one time a rival to the great Sherlock Holmes stories by Conan Doyle.
