The female narrator was like chalk on a blackboard.

I didn’t like the way the story finished. After sitting by the bedside of his great life long love for 5 years, we are expected to be happy to see the main character taking up with an immature, brash young “other” woman. He treated said life long love with little consideration, as he told her how much he wanted the other woman. Some best friend!

Unlikable main character

The main character in this story is one of the most unsympathetic and unlikable characters I’ve read in a long time. It was a struggle to finish, while I kept hoping she would become redeemable soon. Really awful story.

Very thin story

This whole book was stretched from about one chapter’s worth of plot. Plus, the choices of the main character are not those that a real doctor would make. Additionally, the author should have researched who does what in an operating room. The surgeon never runs a code - that is the job of the anesthesia staff.

Much too long for the story line

Too long and the narrator was over the top with overacting. At times, even annoying.

Disappointed

The premise of the story had much potential but it was wasted on a slow moving and predictable course. The narrator used a strange accent, almost like fake southern, that did not match the character. In fact, he was totally wrong in his approach, making the listening almost annoying.

Kept waiting for it to get better

The worst part about this book is that the author kept writing in a dozen pages what could be written in one paragraph. I found myself frequently saying, “Enough already!” I skipped forward frequently, only to find the same words pages later. This book was tedious and boring. Even the ending was a big disappointment, as it didn’t tie up the loose ends. Don’t waste your time.
