Historia
On the Day of the Dead, the citizens of Venice make their way to the cemetery island of San Michele to pay their respects to the departed. When an empty coffin is unearthed in the English section of the graveyard, a day of quiet reflection for Nathan Sutherland becomes a journey into the dark past of a noble Venetian family. A British journalist, investigating the events of 40 years previously, disappears. A young tourist - with an unhealthy interest in Venice's abandoned islands- is found drowned in the icy lagoon. A terrible secret is about to be brought to light.

Dismal plot.
Revisado: 04-22-20
When I visited my dentist he tried to ease my pain by telling minute by minute story of his visit to Venice. There was menu of every restaurant and bar he visited, what he ordered and comment how it tasted and if it was served with happiness.
It was better than what I got from plot and content of this book.
…… When empty coffin is discovered (key to the story), makes dentist version, that included pulling my tooth, more realistic.

Historia
From the Gilded Age until 1914, more than 100 American heiresses invaded Britannia and swapped dollars for titles - just like Cora Crawley, Countess of Grantham, the first of the Downton Abbey characters Julian Fellowes was inspired to create after reading To Marry An English Lord. Filled with vivid personalities, gossipy anecdotes, grand houses, and a wealth of period details-plus quotes and the finer points of Victorian and Edwardian etiquette - To Marry An English Lord is social history at its liveliest and most accessible.

Eye opening book.
Revisado: 06-04-18
This book is a manual for understanding Churchill's life and his financial opportunities.
Namely it is a key to book "No More Champagne".
Also it reveals mating rituals of Britain upper crust. So much I needed to know.
Now I will reed "Pride and Prejudice" again, this time with little more inside.
Love wit and intelligence of narrator Kate Reading and her ability to shear the love of era.
