Historia
The Bobiverse is a different place in the aftermath of the Starfleet War, and the days of the Bobs gathering in one big happy moot are far behind. There’s anti-Bob sentiment on multiple planets, the Skippies playing with an AI time bomb, and multiple Bobs just wanting to get away from it all. But it all pales compared to what Icarus and Daedalus discover on their 26,000-year journey to the center of the galaxy.

Unraveled
Revisado: 04-19-25
Didn’t like how this book tried to do too much and only managed to throw out disconnected pieces that came to an incomplete ending that felt like stopping in the middle of a book.
Very disappointing.
Gets 3 stars overall only because of the credit earned in the first 3 books.

This reads like it was written by an adolescent boy in the midst of a roid-rage and just discovering the female body.
I gave it a chance but it just didn’t improve.

Historia
The very far future: The galaxy is a drifting wreck of black holes, neutron stars, and chill white dwarfs. The age of star formation is long past. Yet there is life here, feeding off the energies of the stellar remnants, and there is mind, a tremendous galaxy-spanning intelligence each of whose thoughts lasts a hundred thousand years. And this mind cradles memories of a long-gone age when a more compact universe was full of light... The 27th century: Proxima Centauri, an undistinguished red dwarf star, is the nearest star to our sun. How would it be to live on such a world?

I finished it
Revisado: 03-29-25
The author seemed to be trying to emulate Tom Clancy’s style of telling a story from multiple perspectives. All he did was tell multiple stories at once with only a few connecting points. I found it virtually impossible to connect with the book, or the characters.

Painful detail
Revisado: 03-23-25
Shallow story clothed in moment by moment detail and tangential “fill” supporting a contrived concept that doesn’t stand up to a thinking mind. Good sci fi is supposed to support a suspension of disbelief. This does the opposite.
And making a stop in the Wild West to fix the Time Machine is such an obvious rip off from the Back to the Future movie that it’s distracting.

Historia
The Martian meets Gravity when Army Pilot Vaughn Singleton, Earth’s last man, rushes to Area 51 in search of a spaceplane after he discovers the last woman is stranded on the International Space Station and barely alive - thus beginning a race against time. The event that wiped life from the planet started at the supercollider. It created a rift in space-time. The astronaut stranded aboard the space station, Commander Angela Brown, is a theoretical physicist who used to work at the collider.

WAY too predictable
Revisado: 02-26-25
Everything that can go wrong, does. Every challenge is overcome at the last possible second. Every safety rope is JUST too short. Every air supply runs out at the last second. For every insurmountable obstacle, there is a perfect solution just barely within reach, at the last possible moment. The hero screws up time after time, catastrophically, but somehow pulls through every time.
I stayed with it to the end, but it never achieves redemption. This is what I’d expect from an author’s first work, or from a hack just turning the crank on a formula-based story generator. Very disappointed.

Too much pandering
Revisado: 11-24-24
Yes, I’m going to say it: this book was written to advance an artificial image of women in the military. Too much in the way of feelings. A military story of this premise would not include such emotional angst, or so many women. They even make the MC have lesbian-ish leanings. I’m just glad that wasn’t too much in your face.
I stayed for the whole story but came very close to bailing multiple times.
If you need a dose of woke, read/listen to this story. If you want true military sci-fi, look elsewhere. I agree with virtually all of the other reviews that offer this kind of critique.

Historia
Winter is coming. Such is the stern motto of House Stark, the northernmost of the fiefdoms that owe allegiance to King Robert Baratheon in far-off King's Landing. There Eddard Stark of Winterfell rules in Robert's name. Far to the north, behind the towering Wall, lie savage Wildings and worse - unnatural things relegated to myth during the centuries-long summer, but proving all too real and all too deadly in the turning of the season. Yet a more immediate threat lurks to the south, where Jon Arryn, the Hand of the King, has died under mysterious circumstances....

Historia
The People's Republic of Haven made a tiny mistake when it announced the execution of Honor Harrington. It seemed safe enough. After all, she was already dead. Unfortunately, they were wrong. Now Honor has escaped from the prison planet called Hell and returned to the Manticoran Alliance with a few friends. Almost half a million of them, to be precise including some who know what really happened when the Committee of Public Safety seized power in the PRH.

Too much stream of consciousness
Revisado: 08-29-24
This book in the series stood out for the sheer tonnage of internal thought dialog, explanations of situations from one character to another, and general background descriptions because the storytelling couldn’t carry the info the author thought important.

Historia
Arto has a problem. For one, he's a robot. He’s awoken with no memory of who he is, with nothing but a mysterious letter, in a world bereft of those fleshy, talky things that made him. So why is he alone, and where have all the people gone? He stumbles upon a lost, cheeky kitten and selects it as his best friend for the adventure of a lifetime, trying to make sense of all this existence stuff. Just as Arto begins to fear he's the only sentient thing left on the whole planet, a cantankerous robot falls from the sky. She says she's his sister.
