Historia
Receptionist Pam Beesly and accountant Angela Martin had very little in common when they toiled together at Scranton’s Dunder Mifflin Paper Company. But, in reality, the two bonded in their very first days on set and, over the nine seasons of the series’ run, built a friendship that transcended the show and continues to this day.

Obnoxious rehash of the podcast
Revisado: 09-05-22
If you listen to the podcast skip this book. If you don't listen to the podcast skip this book. It's poorly acted and literally everything from the podcast. Also there's no special guest appearances except rainn in the beginning the rest are old audio clips. I learned one thing from this that I didn't learn in their podcast, that Jenna is a selfish friend. Also there's no pdf so no pictures they reference in the book. Waste of a credit.

Historia
Set in the 26th century A.D., Yevgeny Zamyatin's masterpiece describes life under the regimented totalitarian society of OneState, ruled over by the all-powerful "Benefactor." Recognized as the inspiration for George Orwell's 1984, We is the archetype of the modern dystopia, or anti-Utopia: a great prose poem detailing the fate that might befall us all if we surrender our individual selves to some collective dream of technology and fail in the vigilance that is the price of freedom.

Orwell was inspired by We for 1984
Revisado: 10-18-21
I find it hilarious that Orwell read and reviewed We before writing 1984. He loved We even accused Huxley of copying it for Brave New World. But it is clear where Orwell got his material from, it's this book so similar in so many ways to 1984, in a different tone and setting. Clear glass walls instead of telscreens no proles, only a perfect mathematical society until D503 is entranced by a woman who doesn't conform to the uniformity. I think it has dethroned 1984 as my favorite book. Worth a read at least to acknowledge where great dystopian literature of the 20th century is inspired by.

Historia
When Lenina and Bernard visit a savage reservation, we experience how Utopia can destroy humanity. Cloning, feel-good drugs, anti-aging programs, and total social control through politics, programming, and media: has Aldous Huxley accurately predicted our future? With a storyteller's genius, he weaves these ethical controversies in a compelling narrative that dawns in the year 632 A.F. (After Ford, the deity). When Lenina and Bernard visit a savage reservation, we experience how Utopia can destroy humanity.

She had no choice in the matter - none of the girls did. Her mission was to give birth to and raise many children in devoted service to a shared husband. Susan was 15 years old when she became the sixth wife of Verlan LeBaron, one of the leaders of a rogue Mormon cult, who was engaged in a blood feud with his brother that from 1972 to 1988 claimed up to two dozen lives. In this gripping and eloquent book, Susan Ray Schmidt tells the story of growing up on the inside and of her ultimate escape with her children from an oppressive and violent life.

There's better autobiographys around polygamy
Revisado: 09-05-21
I gave read about 13 autobiographys about polygamy, this is the only one I couldn't finish. The authors portrayal of people of color comes off racist.

Historia
When police raided the Short Creek compound of the Fundamental Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in 1953, it soon became a political and publicity nightmare and eventually cost the governor of Arizona his job. From that point on, skittish public officials allowed the polygamist sect to practice its tenants unmolested for the next 50 years and turned a blind eye to child abandonment, kidnapping, statutory rape, incest, and massive tax and welfare fraud. But then Warren Jeffs, a new FLDS prophet, escalated the sect’s crimes to near madness.

Revisado: 09-02-21
I've read nearly all the books on audible about polygamy. This one covered the same info as the others in great detail, in the most dry and monotonous way. The narrator didn't help.

Very interesting and compelling story
Revisado: 06-05-21
Michelle does an amazing job of telling her story. I found this more engaging then and Amanda and Gina's book as Michelle detailed it from her perspective and hers alone. I felt Gina and Amanda would have benifited from writing two seperate books.

Historia
"My father had more than 50 children." So begins the haunting memoir of Anna LeBaron, daughter of the notorious polygamist and murderer Ervil LeBaron. With her father wanted by the FBI for killing anyone who tried to leave his cult - a radical branch of Mormonism - Anna and her siblings were constantly on the run with the other sister-wives. Often starving and always desperate, the children lived in terror. Even though there were dozens of them together, Anna always felt alone.

Very religious (go figure)
Revisado: 06-05-21
This is a good and intresting book. However it goes into great detail about things that seem irrelevant. It also becomes very religious to the point of being preachy at the end.

Historia
Two victims of the infamous Cleveland kidnapper share the story of their abductions, their decade in captivity, and their final, dramatic rescue. On May 6, 2013, Amanda Berry made headlines around the world when she fled a Cleveland area home and called 911, saying: “Help me, I’m Amanda Berry...I’ve been kidnapped, and I’ve been missing for 10 years". A horrifying story rapidly unfolded. Ariel Castro, a local school bus driver, had separately lured Berry, Gina DeJesus, and Michelle Knight to his home, where he kept them chained in the basement.

This book is good but focuses on Amanda
Revisado: 06-03-21
This book is basically just about what Amanda experienced mostly it seems because she took the best notes. It was intresting but I wished she and Gina wrote their own books as Michelle did because I think it altered they ended up including in the book. It focused heavily on Amanda's perspective and I would have loved to hear Gina's in her own book

In Jared Diamond’s follow-up to the Pulitzer-Prize winning Guns, Germs and Steel, the author explores how climate change, the population explosion, and political discord create the conditions for the collapse of civilization. Environmental damage, climate change, globalization, rapid population growth, and unwise political choices were all factors in the demise of societies around the world, but some found solutions and persisted.

Historia
When Abbi Jacobson announced to friends and acquaintances that she planned to drive across the country alone, she was met with lots of questions and opinions: Why wasn't she going with friends? Wouldn't it be incredibly lonely? The North route is better! Was it safe for a woman? The Southern route is the way to go! You should bring mace! And a common one... why? But Abbi had always found comfort in solitude and needed space to step back and hit the reset button. As she spent time in each city on her way to Los Angeles, she mulled over the big questions: What do I really want?
