Historia
When the neighbours in question are the proud empires of Klatch and Ankh-Morpork, those are going to be some pretty large garden tools indeed. Of course, no-one would dream of starting a war without a perfectly good reason...such as a 'strategic' piece of old rock in the middle of nowhere. It is after all every citizen's right to bear arms to defend their own. Even if it isn't technically their own. And even if they don't have much in the way of actual weaponry.

How to make Terry Pratchett boring
Revisado: 08-14-23
I wouldn't have thought it possible, but this narration makes Terry Pratchett boring; and his stories are anything but. If you've listened to Nigel Planer or any other decent narration of the Discworld, you're going to hate this. *sigh*
Otherwise this is a great book like all of the rest.

The most incredible thing happened in the most unlikely place. Simon Radcliffe was nothing special. Approaching 40 in a dull middle management job, divorced, depressed, and gaining a beer gut, he was convinced his best days were behind him.

Get the regular audio (not dramatized)
Revisado: 01-18-23
I have listened and re-listened to all of the Space Team books. So, I thought I would give the dramatized version a chance because I really like this series. However, Phil Thron's original narration is so much better than this flat performance. Phil Thron makes the whole story come to life and really brings out the hilarity of the characters and situations. I feel like this dramatized book loses the series' personality. IMHO it just doesn't hold a candle to the original audio books.

But Nancy hates her job, is sick of space, and longs to find adventure and a safe place to smoke cigarettes that won’t blow everyone up. Historia
Elena Klovis was supposed to be her kingdom's Cinderella - until an accident of fate left her with a completely inappropriate prince! Determined not to remain with her stepfamily, Elena set out to get a new job - and ended up becoming the Fairy Godmother for the land. But "Breaking with Tradition" was no easy matter. True, she didn't have to sleep in the chimney, but she had to deal with arrogant, stuffed-shirt princes who kept trying to rise above their place in the tale.

The narrator doesn't work for me
Revisado: 09-19-22
I listened to the first 2 books in this series and the stories were pretty good. But the narrator is not easy for me to follow. She doesn't have a range of voices for different characters. So far as I can tell she has 2 male character voices and 2 female. This makes it very difficult to follow the story. She's also very monotone in her narration. Instead of a performance this is very much just someone reading a book. Since the first two books had a limited number of introductory characters, I was able to follow the story despite the narration. But this book has several introductory characters with similar names and I can't tell one from the other. I just couldn't follow the story or get into it at all so I gave up...

don't bother
Revisado: 07-23-20
they should have started a new series with a different title since they basically just ditched all of the previous books. I'm sad Lee Goldberg was "too busy with other projects" to work on this. Especially after doing his research on using Australia as the next local. I wonder what really happened. probably more likely some undesirable nepotism caused Goldberg to bail out. So sad since it's we the readers who suffer.

Historia
The Pan of Hamgee doesn't believe in miracles but if he’s going to save K'Barth it looks as if he might need one. He's not quite as alone as he thought. The punters from The Parrot and Screwdriver are right behind him and he has rescued three of his friends from the Grongolian Security Forces, who are now of course, three of the nation's most wanted, which doesn't make life easy. He even has something of a plan for once. It involves making peace with the Resistance, trying to resurrect the Underground movement, and toppling Lord Vernon.

Historia
Inspector Rudge does not encounter many cases of murder in the sleepy seaside town of Whynmouth. But when an old sailor lands a rowing boat containing a fresh corpse with a stab wound to the chest, the Inspector's investigation immediately comes up against several obstacles. The vicar, whose boat the body was found in, is clearly withholding information, and the victim's niece has disappeared. There is clearly more to this case than meets the eye - even the identity of the victim is called into doubt.

Surprisingly Awful
Revisado: 03-18-18
Would you try another book from the authors and/or David Timson?
I have and would listen to other books by some of these authors but this book was just a mess.
Any additional comments?
The premise (which is explained in the preface) of this book was for several authors of this genre to write a book together in a sort of chain. Where they each add to the story and follow some basic rules and no one knows how it will turn out. .. sounds like a fun idea but the end product left much to be desired.
There was almost no character development and very little actual story. Each chapter was written by a different author and it was completely obvious. Instead of a smoothly developing and interesting plot, it felt like each author kept rehashing what the first two or three chapters/authors created and added a very few minor details just so the book wouldn’t end. It ended up dragging and utterly uninteresting to me. I did not finish this book after being at or close to halfway through.
It’s ashame this didn’t work for me as I was excited about all these fabulous authors collaborating. But as a friend of mine likes to say “a jackass is a horse designed by a committee.” This book felt like that.

Interesting
Revisado: 03-10-15
Somewhat hard to follow if you are neither a history buff nor a mathematician or physicist. But still very interesting. Makes me want to go back to school so that I can understand the story better. It also would have been easier to follow if the narrator could do more than two voices.
