Historia
A serial rapist is kidnapping teenage girls. But he’s not interested in just any teenage girls - only virgins. He hunts them by following their status updates and check-ins on social media. Once captured, they’re locked away in his sound-proof basement until they’re groomed and ready. He throws them away like pieces of trash after he’s stolen their innocence. Nobody escapes alive. Until Ella. She risks it all to escape, setting herself and the other girls free. Only the girl who's been captive the longest gets out with her. And soon Ella discovers her nightmare's far from over.

Anti-Climactic, a Let Down
Revisado: 10-18-23
This story could have been good, but it’s as if the writer just gave up or didn’t know how to end the story.
Graphic parts that made me queesy.
I’ll also add that the narration for Sarah was awful. It really was flat and robotic. I was assuming this was to illustrate further Sarah’s underlying sociopathic character but it was really difficult to listen to.

Historia
Meet Gillian, a former "other woman", who's trying to let go of her past. Her story is the first of true stories told from the other woman herself, one story at a time. The stories in When the Affair Is Over show the journey of these women as they shed their past and regain their self-respect, told one story at a time.

I bit self-righteous..
Revisado: 10-09-23
I wanted to like this, I did. And really, the subject matter is interesting, but it just came off a bit saccharine with the “she was a queen deserving of true love”. I don’t disagree, necessarily, and I can identify with that, but I suppose I was imagining more of a “how it started, why it was messy, how she snapped out of it” story that was a little more investigative while this read like a teenager’s diary of self-discovery.

Historia
You’ve never met the other wives. None of you know each other, and because of this unconventional arrangement, you can see your husband only one day a week. But you love him so much you don’t care. Or at least that’s what you’ve told yourself. But one day, while you’re doing laundry, you find a scrap of paper in his pocket—an appointment reminder for a woman named Hannah, and you just know it’s another of the wives.

Underwhelming
Revisado: 04-28-20
I didn’t hate the book, but I didn’t love it.
The narrator is good, but her style isn’t exactly me taste. I can’t put my finger on exactly why.
The protagonist is completely unsympathetic. I knew there would be a twist, and frankly I wasn’t shocked by it. But it was really hard to get onboard. She is such a woman-hating woman, who dumbs herself down and puts herself exactly in the positions she is shocked to find herself in while maintaining an air of superiority. If she were a friend of mine, she wouldn’t have been for long.
The story is interesting enough to hold your attention but I was left disappointed. I wouldn’t have used the credit on it with the benefit of hindsight.

Gory - beware of you are faint
Revisado: 12-28-19
As a woman who fainted once from her own heavy flow, and while reading about the Lasik procedure she would later have, beware. On recommendation by a coworker I downloaded this with much interest, as a followed the epidemic of 2014 closely. However, I couldn’t get through the prologue without nearly fainting. I had to lie down and listen to calming sounds to chill. I know I sound like a freak, but my coworkers are obviously familiar w me and gave me no heads up, so thought I’d pass the info along.
