Woe and more woe
Revisado: 10-14-22
If you are tired of being happy and carefree, this book will promptly kill those emotions.
This book is for those who prefer misery, repeated misery, then said again, lest you forget.
I couldn’t finish it, so maybe it gets redemption, but I saw little hope of that.

One audible credit for a one hour listen is just too much
Revisado: 12-16-21
Brian’s Swimme has much to tell us, but this recording is accompanied by an intrusive and unpleasant soundtrack, music that competes with his narrative. The entire book is only one hour, but when it ended I thought it was too long.
I’m returning this.

As the novel opens, Helen has been summoned by a former student to view a cache of 17th-century Jewish documents newly discovered in his home during a renovation.

Way too wordy.
Revisado: 12-26-20
This story is convoluted and a waste of hours. As a student of religious studies and history I really tried to follow the plot and philosophy lessons, but to no apparent avail.

Every line was repeated many times. I kept hoping it would get better. DO NOT waste time with this shallow soap opera.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
The narrator should have been Japanese. The story was trite and melodramatic, maybe it got better by the end but I didn't want to waste any more time on it.
Would you ever listen to anything by Susan Fromberg Schaeffer again?
NO
