For such a time as this
Revisado: 10-29-20
Dear Jo,
Have you ever heard a message, and known deep in your heart that not only was it for YOU, but came at just the right time? This is how I feel about Ready to Rise. A number of years ago I had a conversation with a church friend about how in our experience we seemed to be lacking connection with those ahead of us for a variety of reasons. We spoke of our awareness of our gaps and the lack of resources available to us to fill them in. That day, we decided that if we couldn't find the people to mentor and help teach us, that we would pursue becoming those women in order to pass along the torch to those coming after us. It has taken many years to find practical, insightful, appropriate, pertinent resources to assist with this pursuit. Where Dream of You affirmed me as a person with a God-designed personality, gifting and worth, Ready to Rise taught me what to DO with it. In the last few months God has been speaking to me sometimes quietly and sometimes with urgency "just show up". I am in the throes of ceasing to spin my wheels and take hold of this thing. The first step was healing, forgiveness and surrendering my story. I am now in the stages of finding and using my voice and researching practical steps. Thank you for this priceless resource and for speaking truth in love. I much appreciated your loving directness and constant pointing back toward Jesus. My life will look different now because you shared your gift. May God bless you for your faithfulness. 💜

Let's be honest: the life you're leading isn't the one you've always dreamt of. And maybe the person you've become isn't who you imagined you'd be. Sure, you can work longer, love harder, and eat better. You can scrub the surface of your life until it gleams. But that won't address the fact that you've somehow lost sight of who you really are. Working from the core message of Ephesians 1:11, Jo Saxton implores women to reject mistaken identities. Relying on personal stories from her own life, she identifies key scenarios where identities develop that are not true to God's vision, demonstrating the importance of knowing one's name, embracing the gifts you've been given, confronting body issues, managing seasons of depression and grief, and letting go of perfectionism.

Just what I needed
Revisado: 10-03-20
Dear Jo,
I was first introduced to you in the midst of diversifying my social media feed. I believe in reading deeply and widely to understand the world around me, and the lives of other believers. It was through this avenue I found your book Dream of You. I began the journey via audio book because I had grown to love hearing to you share your heart audibly. About 3 chapters in, as often happens to me with good books, I felt compelled to pop onto Amazon and pick up a hard copy to write notes and highlight. I even ordered a copy for a friend before finishing the book myself. This book was exactly what I needed in the moment I picked it up. Your compassion, authenticity and encouragement reiterated everything I've bee learning about identity the last few years and challenged me to step out from my time of learning in order to pour out and give it! I will admit I have held back out of fear. What will people think? Am I enough? Am I too much? Is my story too much? Good grief it could drive a person crazy (and it has). Thank you for reminding me that I already am who I need to be and that I already have what I need, I just need to keep going back to it. In January of this year, God spoke to me on Ask, Seek, Knock. It was alarmingly loud in my spirit and I still do not fully understand the 'what'. However you have reminded me that the 'what' is not so important as the 'who' and I can trust He will finish what he started. Thank you for singing the song of identity over all of His daughters and reminding us we have purpose and value. Your voice has been a gift 🎁.
Because of grace,
Jan

Historia
Many of us stumbled into Jesus and discovered the one we'd been searching for all our lives, whether we knew it or not. He told us everything was going to be alright. He was a best friend who whispered that he loved us to the exact extent his father loved him. He saw everything we did yet refused to condemn us ever. He was an incredibly powerful and supernatural God who could actually change the outcome of our horror into beauty. Then enter shame, time, failure, disappointment, and bad teaching.

Historia
For those who are weary of Christian cliché and compromise crowding out what was supposed to be good news, The Naked Gospel offers the fresh take on the story of Jesus you've been waiting for. As a university student, Andrew Farley found himself physically and emotionally addicted to street evangelism and Bible study. Yet despite his fervid behavior, he knew something was missing. That something was an understanding of the gospel that is stripped of the churchy jargon and hypocrisies of the modern church.

Life Transforming teaching!
Revisado: 06-28-19
This is the single most effective teaching of the scriptures I have ever read. I kept having to pause it and exclaim out loud! It's so simple and logical that it almost feels foolish! Thank you God for gifting Andrew with this understanding and ability to teach it. I will never be the same.

captivating story
Revisado: 02-04-19
Becoming by Michelle Obama is a long narrative however I enjoyed every second. It was a privilege to hear history from her perspective. Her storytelling ability makes you feel as if you could see, taste, smell and feel the elements to the events being told as if you were there with her. I love that she doesn't shrink back from expressing her opinion or acknowledging her insecurities. Simultaneously juggling fear and insecurity and accomplishing things is a very relatable part of what it means to be human. Although I am not black or American, I felt there was enough in her story to at times cause deep anger and frustration well up in me at the things I have recognized in my own life simply being female. It won't remain anger and frustration though, as I align myself with Michelle's desire to let those things fuel determination to make a difference. I feel I understand our world today a little better after hearing Michelle tell her story. I will use it when I talk to my kids (particularly the girls) about life, optimism, reality and pursuit of dreams.

Historia
Christians have just as many problems as anyone else. Financial concerns, marital discord, illness, loneliness, church splits: you name it, Christians have them. That's discouraging, and sometimes we compound these problems by imagining that problems are God's punishment for our past misdeeds. This is especially true if we fail to see God at work in our lives, if we aren't enjoying a rewarding prayer life, or if our relationship with the Lord seems to be at a distance. In Problems, God's Presence, and Prayer, Michael Wells shows how you can experience the joy of a closer walk with God.
