Fun run on a steep slope

The book caused me to ask new questions like, “if we maintain our natural childhood exuberance, can we continue to brush the face of God?”

This appears likely with Doug and others you will meet here. A grandeur seems to appear and reappear throughout each brief story. Ski lifts and restaurants and bars and mountain tops are transformed, because an exuberant soul appears.

So this book offered me that one question, one that I have never known to ask before.

MATTHEW has established himself as a unique combination of starlight personality and insightful sage. The description that I have most often used as I have told friends and family about the book is “reviving the ancient craft of storytelling”. His skills here shine as does his humanity, backwoods wisdom and desperate love for his family.

Phil he is an engaging host for these short couple of hours.

I ran across Phil on YouTube and just grabbed the book. Thoroughly enjoyable and insightful. Integrating his magic words into our business for my sales team now. My guess is that you’ll get at least one but probably a dozen good insights from this read.

I return to this book about once per decade. This was recorded in the early days of audiobooks and so this is too much to ask… But with all of the rich characters and settings, it would be more effective with multiple voice actors. I am sure that I will read it again sometime this decade.

Kingsley is solid and reassuring. Hanh is gracious and inclusive. As he said at the end, understanding and love transcend all dogma.

A great contribution to the heroic efforts to get the two ends of a distant bridge to meet in the middle. Well-done.

A generational prophet?

As Peterson extracts from ancient writings, he aligns himself with them and transforms his words, his character and himself Into a prophet for this generation (and maybe beyond).

In the Christian scriptures, prophets would, by their words and actions, properly interpret the condition of the societies in which they lived and then pass down those interpretations to the masses. By this standard, Peterson certainly qualifies.

This book now surpasses any other as the one that I most frequently buy and give away to others.

How often do we get to peer into the metamorphose of another human? Peering into David's experience gave me 100s of footnotes, insights and ideas. It also killed in me a lifelong expectation that both the right and left want to meet the other near a shared middle. But what died in me also made me smarter - less naive.
