Toxic AF with bad pacing

I got 4 hrs in and couldn't continue.
When the text itself pointed out how bad the story pacing was I just gave up. So much supposed relationship development, stalking, mutilation, and murder with two days in universe.
I don't mind toxic romance if it is written well and the characters are believable, but this is not that. Turn your brain ALL the way off for this book if you choose to read it.

Like panning for gold (in need of editing)

Reading this book was like panning for gold. There are little nuggets of awesome in this soupy mess of a story. I LOVED Gideon the Ninth. For the keen reader there were a lot of hints that payed off at the end. It was a self contained story that made you want more.
Unfortunately Harrow the Ninth does not pay off nearly so well and the story is left with feeling like it is a middle narrative with no clear resolution to anything. The second person narration goes on for 2/3 of the book. even though I understood the intent behind using that voice it felt belabored.
There are some awesome moments in this book. I can see the bones of an interesting plot but it is covered in overly obscure narration. There are clear moments of tell not show which is further compounded by that second person pov. The amazing moments stick in my head clearly, but they are spaced out by a lot of interstitial dross.

Personally I like the Beyond Belief stories best, but there is a bit of something for anyone who enjoys short radio play vignettes.
