My Favorite Book

This has been my favorite book for years ever since I read it as a child. Now I’m a mom and I’m sharing it with my children. I was excited to get it on audible so we can listen to it together and discuss it. We are homeschooling and I love the opportunity this story presents to talk about the importance of education!

Ginnifer Goodwin, is that you?

First of all, yes the book is amazing and a must read for every mom whether you are homeschooling or not. Second of all, her voice sounds exactly like Ginnifer Goodwin (whose voice I love!) and if she wanted she could make a career out of reading audio books because I could listen to her read all day 😄

I feel like I got a chance to be one of the "cool kids"

Growing up, through middle school, high school, and college, I've always been low-drama, no nonsense, "goody two-shoes" type of girl. But I always wondered what it was like to be one of the "cool kids." Well, reading this book gave me a good glimpse of it I think. The perspective, sleeping around, bad language, shallow values, and back stabbing that I'm glad aren't part of my personal real life. I guess I'm glad I listened to this book, Lauren Conrad did a great job reading it. I did enjoy it, but it's not something I'd want my daughter listening to. Even though it's a cliffhanger I'm not going to listen to the sequels.

Intense, Unpredictable, Exciting!

Shannon Hale is my favorite author. I was NOT expecting a book like this from her - but that's not a bad thing. Sci-fi isn't exactly my cup of tea, but for those who love it you should definitely read/listen to this book. My only real experience with sci fi was when I watched Firefly in college, and this gave me similar feelings: intensity, unexpected plot twists, fear, extravagant ideas, and freaky aliens that give me nightmares. But man she wrote this book well, and I LOVE the unique main character!!! From beginning to end I kept having moments like "WHAT???!" the only predictable part was the VERY end. But you have all the pieces by then and I'm glad it turned out how I wanted it to :) Thank you Shannon Hale for the exciting new super hero!
