Typos, mispronunciations, several liberal-bias opinions, too simplistic “practice questions”.
Revisado: 12-16-24
Typos are read as fact (ex. Ralph Waldo Emerson is credited as “Ralph Waldo”) there are several spots of double recordings and mispronunciations are in every chapter. Though most of the information seems objective there are quite a few liberal-biased opinions of Supreme Court decisions, presidential acts, and foreign policy positions. The practice questions are simplified and obvious, think fifth grade level, not like the actual FSOT. It’s too bad. I was really hoping this would be a really good resource.

If you ever wondered who becomes an American ambassador and why, this is the book for you. This updated and revised edition of Jett’s classic book not only provides a timely overview of American ambassadorship for Foreign Service Officers, aspiring diplomats, and interested citizens, but also calls for much-needed reform, describing the dire implications of failing to change our ambassadorial appointments process for the future of American diplomatic practice and foreign policy.

Interesting but written in a nauseating left-leaning view
Revisado: 12-12-24
Like many of its contemporary books on political issues this volume is dripping with ostentatious anti-conservative and anti-Trump rhetoric. The author begins his (unnecessary) preface to the send edition by defending his attempt at an objective view and then launching into a predictably inaccurate diatribe on the evils of Donald Trump. The rest is actually quite informative if you don’t mind the consistent obsequious references to democrats and the bitter denunciation of any conservative characters involved.

Historia
Moving from a sweeping overview of history to blow-by-blow accounts of his negotiations with world leaders, Henry Kissinger describes how the art of diplomacy has created the world in which we live, and how America's approach to foreign affairs has always differed vastly from that of other nations. Brilliant, controversial, and profoundly incisive, Diplomacy stands as the culmination of a lifetime of diplomatic service and scholarship. It is a must-listen for anyone concerned with the forces that have shaped our world today and will impact upon it tomorrow.

Historia
It's just a small story really, about, among other things, a girl, some words, an accordionist, some fanatical Germans, a Jewish fist-fighter, and quite a lot of thievery. Set during World War II in Germany, Markus Zusak's groundbreaking new novel is the story of Liesel Meminger, a foster girl living outside of Munich. Liesel scratches out a meager existence for herself by stealing when she encounters something she can't resist: books.

Such a rich story and a beautiful performance. The consistency of swearing in the Lord’s name was difficult to listen too however.

- De A. Garcia en 06-15-23
Cliche after cliche. Predictable and rudimentary.
Revisado: 11-14-23
Just about any Pinterest post about French fashion includes most of the information in this short book. This author’s understanding of ‘elegance’ is very different than most as she states that Michelle Obama is an “elegant fashion icon”. There is no real substance to this book or originality whatsoever. Not was I was looking for.

Worth your time. I love how she describes simply the progress through each law to celestial glory. Eye-opening in reference to those around us pursuing different levels of obedience. This inspires some good introspection.

Trite, robotic, obvious and full of platitudes
Revisado: 08-17-23
This may be necessary for beginner homemakers with absolutely no training from childhood but for anyone else this will seem like a waste of time. The narrator is so robotic it’s almost painful.

What if you could travel anywhere, whether Europe, South America, or the remote reaches of the African continent? And what if you could choose not only your destination, but your era, as well-so that you might choose from the sparkling court society of 18th-century France, a 19th-century whaling ship out of New Bedford, or the streets of Dublin in the early part of the 20th century?

Apparently there is sexual tension in every great book
Revisado: 05-21-22
This lecturer brings up many interesting nuances and telling components of each of these novels, 80% of which are sexual in nature. I don’t know whether to believe these books are really that full of sexual tension or that this lecturer is simply compensating for some unrealized need in himself. Either way, it’s very annoying and removes all credit from his professional analysis. Some sexual tension? Sure, there’s bound to be some but attributing sexual undercurrents to absolutely every situation is absurd. I couldn’t finish it.
