Historia
After five years on the run, Court Gentry is back on the inside at the CIA. But his first mission makes him wish he had stayed on the outs when a pair of Chinese agents try to take him down in Hong Kong. Normally the Chinese prefer to stay eyes-only on foreign agents. So why are they on such high alert? Court's high stakes hunt for answers takes him across Southeast Asia and leads to his old friend, Donald Fitzroy, who is being held hostage by the Chinese.

As Good as They Get (So Far)!
Revisado: 05-06-25
This is my sixth “Gray Man” (in a chronological binge over the last last month or so) and, although I’ve loved them all, the most recent book always seems to be the best, as was the case with “Gunmetal Gray.”

Historia
Court Gentry is known as The Gray Man—a legend in the covert realm, moving silently from job to job, accomplishing the impossible, and then fading away. And he always hits his target. But there are forces more lethal than Gentry in the world. And in their eyes, Gentry has just outlived his usefulness. Now, he is going to prove that for him, there's no gray area between killing for a living-and killing to stay alive.

A Great Read
Revisado: 04-10-25
Saw and liked the movie and figured the book might be even better and wasn’t disappointed. Movie caught some of the high points but there were a good number of great combat depictions, including the final hour so that probably weren’t possible for a movie.

Historia
1992. All across the United States respectable, upstanding citizens are showing up dead. These deaths could be accidents, and they don’t appear to be connected—until a fatal fall from a high-floor window attracts some unexpected attention. That attention comes from the secretary of defense. All of a sudden he wants an interagency task force to investigate. And he wants Jack Reacher as the army’s representative. If Reacher gets a result, great. If not, he’s a convenient fall guy.

Very Good, as Expected

I’ve read all of Lee’s Reacher Series and was not the least disappointed with this one. Quite enjoyable.

As Good As It Gets!!!
Revisado: 02-01-23
Abbott George comes across as a “Fundamentally Kindhearted and Genuinely Nice Guy,” who speaks the Wisdom of the Ages, in a very Down to Earth and Entertaining Way, that specifically targets Everyday Folks.
P.S. Been “Enquiring in the Temple” for nigh-on-to 60 years here, as well, and Abbott George’s “de-spooking” of the “spiritually presumed power and forces of negation” (re: Satan, Lucifer, Sin, Darkness, Self-Ignorance and the like, etc.) is as good as “esoteric deciphering” gets.

Historia
In 1942, America's deadliest fighter pilot, or "ace of aces" - the legendary Eddie Rickenbacker - offered a bottle of bourbon to the first US fighter pilot to break his record of 26 enemy planes shot down. Seizing on the challenge to motivate his men, General George Kenney promoted what they would come to call the "race of aces" as a way of boosting the spirits of his war-weary command.

Historia
Originally published by Wm. Morrow, in 1995, Skygods is the saga of America's most glamorous airline - from its meteoric ascent to its plunge to extinction. Pan Am blazed the way across the world's oceans with its magnificent Clipper ships, launched the first international jet service, was the first to fly the behemoth 747, was the lead customer for America's SST and the Concorde, and was even taking reservations for the first commercial flights to the moon.

Outstanding In Every Respect!!!
Revisado: 02-21-17
What a trip down memory lane. I was a Pan Am (PAA) new hire in November of 1987, while still on a month of terminal leave, after a 20 year career with the Air Force; and subsequently flew for PAA for 4 years as 727 Flight Engineer and First Officer, until they went down in December of 1991.
Learned a lot of detailed PAA history I didn't know from this great reading, as well as why (hubris, politics, Lockerbie, the Gulf War) what happened happened.
A great story author and a great presentation by the reader. Both really captured the spirit of aviation, pilots and PAA. Highest recommendation for anyone who loves or may just be interested in flying and the historical inner workings of the airline industry.
[Note: I was blessed with an interview with United Airlines (UAL) in 1992, as part of the bankruptcy sale of PAA's South American routes (the last "family jewel" to go) to UAL; got hired and flew for them until retiring on a medical in 2004. Although, I hadn't realized it until listening to this book, rather ironically, I subsequently did get to "fly-the-line" on many of the old PAA pioneered routes (Pacific, South American, Caribbean and London) on B767s and B777s with UAL.]
