Historia
Come home to Hope Harbor - where hearts heal...and love blooms. Tracy Campbell never wanted to leave Hope Harbor, Oregon, or the idyllic three-generation cranberry farm where she grew up. But life - and love - altered her plans. Now she's home again - with a floundering farm to run...a tragic secret...and a wounded heart. Romance is not on her agenda. Nor is it on Michael Hunter's. The visitor from Chicago has daunting secrets and devastating regrets of his own.

Fun Summer Read
Revisado: 09-16-23
A fun fast read with heartwarming characters and their interwoven stories of redemption, forgiveness, second chances and a sprinkling of romance. More depth would’ve made it more engaging and less predictable, but i would recommend to anyone who is looking for a light, fun and fast read.
Narrator was excellent.

Historia
The Davenports are one of the few Black families of immense wealth and status in a changing United States, their fortune made through the entrepreneurship of William Davenport, a formerly enslaved man who founded the Davenport Carriage Company years ago. Now it's 1910, and the Davenports live surrounded by servants, crystal chandeliers, and endless parties, finding their way and finding love—even where they’re not supposed to.

Fun, engaging, eye-opening
Revisado: 04-24-23
Seamlessly escape back in time and experience history from a different perspective. I didn’t want to stop listening to the stories of these black families, stories left out of my history books. I only wish there was a follow-up book.

I only try on one of Nina’s pristine white dresses once. Just to see what it’s like. But she soon finds out...and by the time I realize my attic bedroom door only locks from the outside, it’s far too late. But I reassure myself: The Winchesters don’t know who I really am. They don’t know what I’m capable of....

Kept me wanting to know what was next

This is a fun and quick listen. It’s a different perspective on the typical family and interesting to see how people come together.

Insightful
Revisado: 03-22-20
I know the strong and complicated connection having a sister is, but I’m not personally familiar with the effects of drug addiction on families. I appreciate the author’s use of characters to tell a complex story. Using the sisters, mother, fiancé, and healthcare workers, provides many perspectives giving readers a character they can relate to.
It touched on our healthcare system with accuracy and empathy for the people who work in that system. I would have liked for that to be more fully developed. I’m sure it’s a good thing that it left me wanting more. I wanted to know what was next for them all. I feel maybe that was rushed through a little, but it was a good story told with empathy and care.
