Loved the story, not so much the narrator
Revisado: 08-27-24
This was another great story by Connelly, but so far, this was the worst narration. In previous books, the narrator has given a specific, gravelly smokers voice to Bosch, and it helps the listener know when it’s Bosch that’s speaking. This narrator didn’t, and it was sometimes hard to know exactly who was speaking at the moment. This story kept me guessing until the end as to who the killer really was.

Historia
A movie director is charged with murdering an actress during sex, and then staging her death to make it look like a suicide. In a seemingly unrelated case, a loner is murdered, leaving the sheriff's department with no clues. One unsettling revelation after another leaves a retired FBI agent and an L.A. detective thinking they've unmasked a most frightening killer with almost inconceivable calculation.

Love the interaction between characters

I loved all the characters individually, but this book ties them all together so nicely. Great story and great narration!

Historia
High-powered businesswoman Lana Rubicon has a lot to be proud of: her keen intelligence, impeccable taste, and the L.A. real estate empire she’s built. But when she finds herself trapped 300 miles north of the city, convalescing in a sleepy coastal town with her adult daughter Beth and teenage granddaughter Jack, Lana is stuck counting otters instead of square footage—and hoping that boredom won’t kill her before the cancer does.

Great listen that kept me guessing till the end!
Revisado: 10-17-23
Loved the story and the characters. It was also a breath of fresh air to listen to a book that wasn’t chock full of bad language! I found myself trying to guess the “whodunnit” right until the end.

Historia
Everyone from Wakarusa, Indiana, remembers the infamous case of January Jacobs, who was discovered in a ditch hours after her family awoke to find her gone. Margot Davies was six at the time, the same age as January—and they were next-door neighbors. In the twenty years since, Margot has grown up, moved away, and become a big-city journalist. But she’s always been haunted by the feeling that it could’ve been her. And the worst part is, January’s killer has never been brought to justice.

Great story with twist after twist as promised! My only complaint is the language. The story could have been told without all the f-bombs.

Great story, confusing narration
Revisado: 01-07-22
I’m a huge fan of The Office, so naturally this book intrigued me. I loved the story, but the narration was hard to follow. I’m sure if I had actually read the book instead of listening to it, I wouldn’t have had any question about who was saying what, but since different people were reading for the actors, it was hard to know who the person was that was speaking. Overall though, loved the story and loved hearing interesting facts about my favorite show!
