Historia
In May 1940, as the German army blitzes Europe and Parisians flee their city, the chief curator of the Musée de l’Armée is ordered to get a mysterious piece of cargo out of the country. When he arrives at the port of Le Havre and learns that his intended ship has been sunk, he places the object on a decrepit steamer that sails out under German fire.

Historia
Captain Jackson Wolfe never thought he'd see the end of the Phage War in his lifetime. The enemy was too powerful, too numerous, and utterly determined to exterminate humanity. But the appearance of a new ally in the fight has changed all of that. For the first time since the original incursion, Wolfe thinks that maybe there's a chance to stop their implacable enemy before they have the chance to wipe out any more human planets.

Historia
Reacher goes where he wants, when he wants. That morning he was heading west, walking under the merciless desert sun — until he comes upon a curious scene. A Jeep has crashed into the only tree for miles around. A woman is slumped over the wheel. Dead? No, nothing is what it seems. The woman is Michaela Fenton, an army veteran turned FBI agent trying to find her twin brother, who might be mixed up with some dangerous people. Most of them would rather die than betray their terrifying leader.

The Voice of Reacher Has Become Inconsistent!
Revisado: 11-18-21
Have you read Blue Moon? In that story, Reacher gets off a bus and proceeds to help a couple deeply indebt to an Eastern European mob in a town where two mobs are fighting to control crime, loan sharking and other bad acts. In that novel, Reacher makes his decision to help immediately. Does not think twice.
In Better off Dead, early in the story, Reacher attempts to go to sleep and spend 5 hours trying to figure out if he is going to help a former military officer try and find out what happened to her brother and possibly help her get revenge. I cannot recall in all of the past novel that Reacher ever took 5 hours to get to sleep. In fact, he would go to sleep, but set an internal clock and promptly be asleep until the designated waking hour. The introduction of Andrew Child to this series does not offer good news. Of course Reacher has been around for years, but his character is no different than any of Robert Parker's characters who continuation is made possible by other authors who manage to stay pretty close to the basics of each character.
Lee Child needs to improve his son's knowledge of Reacher. If Lee is responsible for the inconsistent voice, that's too bad. But I suspect its junior. 5 hours for Reacher to sleep? That is like having Tom Cruise portray Reacher in movies. Terrible!
Scott Brick does his usual great presentation and the story line is pretty good. The inconsistent characterization of Reach is sad to experience. Perhaps you will not notice.

Historia
It’s been nine years since Quinn last worked with Mariko. That fateful job left him with a permanent sense of guilt, and her with a life forever changed. Now, their paths have crossed again. Not in a way Quinn would have hoped for, but at least in one that might allow him to make partial amends. To accomplish this, he will have to risk his career by ignoring the strict orders he’s been given. But a cleaner’s got to do what a cleaner’s got to do.

This story was an exceptional tale for Quinn and his team, overcoming a group of truly evil business men! Well structured, nicely paced and a good outcome to end the story! Battles wrote a great book. Scott Brick was wonderful in reading the book and giving life to each character. Highly recommend for an outstanding listen!

Well Trained Hero Becomes Incompetent!
Revisado: 04-08-21
An expert in protection presents strong professional experience and leadership for 40% of the story and not only becomes fearful after exposure to a drug but becomes paranoid beyond belief. I was enjoying the book and premise and then the hero suddenly looses all of his training and turns into a Person with a Superman complex. I lost interest once the hero begin to think that none of the 3 groups seeking both him and a bad guy are unable to arrive at the same conclusion as he did about where to search for the bad guy. Very disappointing.

An Amazing Examination of what being Alive means!
Revisado: 11-02-20
Mr Scalzi book was compelling, entertaining and quite frightening. Imagine having only cognition of your mind with no body and no one else alive near you. I was so unsettled I stopped reading and put the story down for a night.
Great hero’s, nasty villains and soulless governments are presented in the story. Concisely offering complex characters and choices, Scalzi created a masterpiece. A haunting account of the greatness of individuals and the complexity of building nations.
This is a wonderful book and a great ending to a complex series. I highly recommend it to all!

Historia
The people of Earth now know that the human Colonial Union has kept them ignorant of the dangerous universe around them. For generations the CU had defended humanity against hostile aliens, deliberately keeping Earth an ignorant backwater and a source of military recruits. Now the CU’s secrets are known to all. Other alien races have come on the scene and formed a new alliance - an alliance against the Colonial Union. And they’ve invited the people of Earth to join them. For a shaken and betrayed Earth, the choice isn't obvious or easy.

Simenon’s story is a wonderful “who done it” with no one from the crime locale actually pushing to solve the murder of a philandering husband. Garett Armstrong performed his reading in great voices with outstanding drama and pacing. A great story to hear!

Martin Walker’s Bruno still tied up by old flames!
Revisado: 07-24-20
Will our local policeman ever stop having sex with old girlfriends and actually date a woman that is emotionally available? Bruno’s dog finds a friendly dam to spend time procreating to extend and enhance the breed, but our protagonist himself is engaged with women who continue to provide just empty sex. As for this convoluted story of a daughter of a Russian oligarch with the family of a born again British rock star, its more like a poorly made beef stew than a thoughtful creative mystery. If Mr Walker has lost his little gray cells and lacks the capacity to introduce new mysteries to his small region, then he should kill Bruno off and reinvent his writing ideas.
Robert Mackenzie was great as usual bringing life to this plodding book. Better to wait and borrow this book from a library than buy it yourself.
