Too stupid to survive

The FMC is inhumanly insecure and stupid. At least half the dialogue in the book is the FMC with herself, questioning or chastising herself after every sentence or action, if not then gaslighting herself. Meanwhile, the MMC thinks she’s hung the moon. This woman doesn’t make smart decisions, she doesn’t even make halfway logical decisions— like letting her phone ring for about fifteen minutes straight, sees she has dozens of missed calls/texts from the MMC, ignores the panic in his voice wanting to know where she is and advising her to lock herself inside until her gets there, no no, this girl decides to try and set ~boundaries~ and while she hears what he says, she’s not listening to him at all.

I love when people remember and share the old fairytales seemingly forgotten by modern media and story craft. This is not a Labyrinth fanfic, it and Labyrinth are based on the same classic stories and their metaphors and warnings and heartache. This was a beautifully melancholic story that sang to the part of me that loves mythology and Phantom of the Opera and Labyrinth and centuries old fairytales. It was divine.

Really enjoyed this book and could scarcely put it down. It was amazing watching g how each student dealt with the situation differently, how they held up or cracked under pressure, or how and why they made the choices that they did. Very, very good book.

Terrible writing, lovely narrator

The writing is terrible and nonsensical, as well as misogynistic and gross, but the narration is lovely, I’ve listened to her before. This book was a hot mess with no plot, and characters who are want to bone like rabbits in heat but have literally not connection. They aren’t friends, don’t like each other, have no developed connection at all. Vomit.

I found this author when I read Cinnamonbun vol 1, and I love their books. I am very disappointed there isn’t a fourth book in this series for me to immediately dive into because I am SO looking forward to everything that is about to go down.

This story felt like a detailing of plot points, technical and without depth. Never did the character feel real, major plot points brought up toward the end get glossed over or never answered. Not interested in trying any others by this author.

Really enjoyed being introduced to a new fairytale. I liked that it’s a quest party that is quirky and charming, with two old ladies, a demon hen, a disgraced soldier who chops wood, an anxious nun who wants to protect her sister, and, of course, the best dog ever.

This is a great book and ai greatly enjoyed it and am happy to see it get traditionally published. While I’m glad the author took the opportunity to fix her somewhat racist portrayal of Temper, I did not like this narration as much as the original one, and I worry that’s gonna cripple this a bit. Not to say this narrator wasn’t good, but many who purchased it already read the entire series in someone else’s voice, so re-reading it in a new voice but the character voices are wrong or the inflections are off, it makes it all the more difficult to listen to. Desmond’s character suddenly having something like a British accent was also jarring. I get the narrator making it her own, but the original set the bar really high, and this version tries to make the leap like a cat jumping off the counter and losing traction, leading to an awkward tumble.

This series is entirely too cute and much more fun than what I’ve found in other litRPG books. This is all about wonder and fun and ENJOYING this transmigration into a RPG world. It’s cute and well written, playing out like a colorful anime adventure with absolutely endearing characters as they seek out dungeons and fight monsters and attempt friendships before resorting to violence. Broccoli Bunch is precious, and I really kind of hope she and Awen end up together, though I don’t think romance will really become part of the story, just hinted at or in the background.
