Breakthrough!
Revisado: 09-26-24
This book is astounding. I downloaded it with 5 other books on mediation. I also use the meditation app Waking Up. What this book did that no other book or course I've encountered so far has done, is that it explained what enlightenment is in simple terms and how one gets there. Not that it's easy to get there, but this book makes it easy to understand. It's all in simple language that makes sense. I suppose you need to be open to change, open to leting go of the wanting, hurt, striving and struggles in your life for this book to resonate with you. But if you are open to that then this book is just astounding at the way it can guide you through the process. Listening to this book has put me on a path to contentment, peace, forgiveness, acceptance, and giving a better kind of love to those around me. I titled the review "breakthrough" because it's helping me break through to a better life.

Historia
New York Times bestseller (The Biggest Buff, The Confidence Game, Mastermind) and New Yorker writer Maria Konnikova delves into the mysterious ailment that she and 39 million others suffer from in the U.S. alone: Migraine, a disease that is still little understood, yet debilitating to its sufferers.

Disappointing
Revisado: 01-03-22
If you're looking for a book that's gives deep insight into the nature, manifestations and internal workings of migraines, then this book is not for you...you might like "Migraine" by Oliver Sacks.
If you want to hear someone complain first-hand, over and over, about their migraines, then you might want this book. The book is heavy on the author's experience, and light on the science and medical understanding of migraines. Unfortunately, I found both the author's stories and the narration to be chaffing and grating on my sensibilities. Curiously, the author had one profound Migraine incident where she went blind, but she only dedicates 3 or 4 sentences to this. A pity that she did not dive deep into the encounter or the neurology behind it as it was by far the most interesting aspect of her history with migraines.

Historia
Over a storied career, Daniel C. Dennett has engaged questions about science and the workings of the mind. His answers have combined rigorous argument with strong empirical grounding. And a lot of fun. Intuition Pumps and Other Tools for Thinking offers seventy-seven of Dennett’s most successful “imagination-extenders and focus-holders” meant to guide you through some of life’s most treacherous subject matter: evolution, meaning, mind, and free will.

Loved it, but some philosophy background needed.

Too Much Obscure Philosophy
Revisado: 11-15-16
Would you try another book from Daniel C. Dennett and/or Jeff Crawford?
No
Any additional comments?
You'd have to have a deep, deep interest in obscure philosophy to enjoy this book. I was hoping for useful information on understanding human behavior, instead I got the long chapters on the twisted and strange logic that philosophers come up with to prove something that really has little use or value.
