Weakest of the sophie hannah Poirot books
Revisado: 11-02-18
I'm disappointed to say that this story was underwhelming. Christie was a master of understanding human nature and puzzles. So far sophie hannah has been doing pretty well upholding the Christie tradition. So it pains me to say that the plot of this story and the final explanation was contrived. There are pointless characters and a hamfisted subplot to explain the title. While Christie had long explanations to wrap up her plots, this wrap up was really dragged out and over explained. The performance, as always from this narrator, was well done. Obviously many other people disagree so I'm glad others got enjoyment out of it.

interesting but okay
Revisado: 03-15-18
the background on the bachelor franchise and perspectives from former contestants was good journalism. However, the book may have been better as a series of articles because that's how it reads. I'm sure the author never intended it, but she tends towards mocking other people's accents. she snarkily points out a woman from Maryland slips into a southern drawl even though she's from Maryland. It's not actually that crazy if she knew the area. She also explores the reasons behind why everyone loves the bachelor and dismisses other reasons besides her own which I found a bit silly. Her perspective is important and interesting, but that doesn't mean that everyone is faking their snark and watches it deep down wanting a "fairytale romance" just because she and her friends do. These criticisms aside, it's decent writing, a good story, and she did her research thoroughly. She definitely is a "smart cookie."

Historia
In 1985, 32-year-old David Brown seemed to have it all. A computer genius with a million-dollar business, married for the fifth time - most recently to a 23-year-old beauty, Linda, the mother of his new-born baby - he was the living emobodiment of a rich playboy. But the signs of the dream life's dark underside were already emerging - especially in Brown's penchant for divorcing his young wives as soon as they matured to full womanhood.

narration was terrible
Revisado: 03-12-18
good story by Ann rule as always but TERRIBLE narration. It sounded like she was reading a word problem or a grocery list, not a story. I never realized how important a good narrator was before this audiobook. Such a bummer because I do love Ann rule's books.

wasted credit
Revisado: 10-10-16
predictable. I thought this book might have some mystery or twists to it, but it is what it is. I got so bored that I skipped chapters. if you're looking for a pure predictable thriller and can suspend every inclination of disbelief, go ahead. it's not the worst book I've ever read/listened to.
