Scripture has brought us light in darkness, strength in weakness, comfort in sadness. It isn't difficult to endorse the Psalmist's experience that the words of God are 'more precious than gold... sweeter than honey'. So it's distressing to watch the Bible being dislodged from its position of authority, not only in our nation but also in the church. Here we focus on the urgent need to continue in, respond to, interpret and expound God's Word.

This is a great book by a great author. What confounded me during the entire presentation was why the reader thought that he needed to whisper the entire book. Was the book a secret that others shouldn't hear? Me. Stott is making bold assertions about the word of God, that should at least be confidently presented, if not boldly proclaimed. A reader should not so contradict the purpose of the author.

A powerful story

The story was very powerful, about a strong God but in need of a strong narration. The reader was so soft as to dishonor the account. A reader should be able to pronounce the English and Chinese words. The story is incredible, and worth reading. I would encourage people to read it themselves.

Brown recounts the events surrounding the fire in the first and only book to chronicle the dramatic story that unfolded. Whereas Oregon's famous "Biscuit" fire in 2002 burned 350,000 acres in one week, the Hinckley fire did the same damage in five hours. The fire created its own weather, including hurricane-strength winds, bubbles of plasmalike glowing gas, and 200-foot-tall flames.

The narration was not good. Most of it is emotionless. Much of it was like he was reading to kindergartners. I had read the book before and wanted to hear it again. The narration ruined it.

I always enjoy most when the author reads his own book. There's no replacement for that, because it's directly from the heart.

I didn't know anything about Erwin McManus before this book, but I thought his life experiences were unique and inspiring.

It wasn't a book that I was driven to finish, but it was short enough that I gleaned some very good thoughts from it that were very helpful.
