But with the growing threat from Moscow Centre, the office has one more job for him. Nat is to take over The Haven, a defunct substation of London General with a rag-tag band of spies. LeCarre is a surprisingly good narrator.
Revisado: 11-17-19
We all knew that John LeCarre could write, but his reading of this book is excellent. I am also a fan of a decision the producers made to reduce the quality of the recording for portions of the text which are supposed to be heard over the phone or hidden microphones.

Historia
Can the president launch a nuclear attack without congressional approval? Is it ever a crime to criticize the president? Can states legally resist a president's executive order? Corey Brettschneider takes us on a deep dive into the US Constitution to answer questions that, in our tumultuous era, Americans are asking more than ever before. From the document itself and from history's pivotal court cases, we learn why certain powers were granted to the presidency, how the Bill of Rights limits those powers, and what "we the people" can do.

Constitutional Standard for Presidential Morality

A sneakily entertaining constitutional law lesson.
Revisado: 12-20-18
One hears a lot of discussion in the media about strict constructionism. It is a simple concept to understand and, like scriptural fundamentalism, appealing to concrete thinkers.
But what is the alternative? How would that work?
This is one of the themes which run through this book by constitutional law scholar Corey Brettschneider.
In this entertaining work, the author explains how a hypothetical future president should behave (hypothetical and future president because the literal current president does or can not read) if he or she wishes to remain true to constitutional principles.
Every voter should also know this material, since an informed voter can best gauge which candidates would act according to these principles.

Fantastic author, best narrator.
Revisado: 04-06-17
A thoroughly exciting return to action by the German police commissar Bernie Guenther. It's got Nazis, Stasi, murders, brothers who hate each other, as well as the best narrator working today, John Lee.

Historia
The war is over. Bernie Gunther, our sardonic former Berlin homicide detective and unwilling SS officer, is now living on the French Riviera. It is 1956, and Bernie is the go-to guy at the Grand-Hotel du Cap-Ferrat, the man you turn to for touring tips or if you need a fourth for bridge. As it happens, a local writer needs just that - someone to fill the fourth seat in a regular game that is the usual evening diversion at the Villa Mauresque. Not just any writer. Perhaps the richest and most famous living writer in the world: W. Somerset Maugham.

Bernie Gunther is a fantastic character, and this may be his best tale yet. Thoroughly engrossing.
