The after listening to Elizabeth Evans this voice is NOT my Bryce. But everything else was great. It really made key plot points standout even more.

Why don’t the different covenants have different accents

Kinda strange to me that there’s not one person in the New York covenant has a “New York accent” and again…17 year olds don’t talk like this? I believe later in the series someone says “all good in the hood” makes the characters far less cool.

Teens don’t talk like this.

Even in 2014 when this was originally written, 17 year olds don’t talk like this. They don’t say things like “craptastick” this seems like it was written by someone who has never listened to a teen speak other than in movies. At times it really took me out, I didn’t mind the narrator she was fine. The story was slightly predictable, but good enough to keep me interested.

Great book, Unsatisfying ending

I did enjoy the book. Didn't like the ending. I feel like she left so many threads hanging. What about her mom? What about him and his new role? What about Kaye and her new discovery about herself? I feel like i needed few more chapters to flesh out the end of the third act.

Edit Im reading Valiant thinking thats the end of our heros stories, nope theres a third book which ties all of them together. So nevermind, still think more story could have been told here but theres a whole nother book which is cool!

This made me despise Briar

Ok off top, I hate how Briar was written. I hate how clueless she is about everything, and even when give a comprehensive explanation he responds usually is "huh, what? I dont understand" If I had a dollar for everytime her throat closed up or her stomach tightened. And my issue is yes Zea was naive and didnt know anything but as the first princess trials book progressed SHE LEARNED. I feel like Briar was unchanged. Even through the third act she was still "huh? What? Whats going on I dont get it." Drove me nuts. He indecision drove me crazy too. Even looking death in the face shes till "what do I do what do I do." Girl, shoot him or run but stop standing there. I was over her by act three. Loved the princess trials, this was a meh for me.

So Chris Just doesn’t have an accent now?

It’s been said multiple times that Chris has a southern Texas drawl. Multiple times in multiple books. Somehow he lost that, you’d think a book specifically about him would at least have his accent. It’s also annoying how every narrator mispronounces St. Ailbes. In fact the male narrator pronounced it correctly then incorrect in the same book. Last annoying thing is how there multiple repetitive phrases “I have some sight, but nothing like Tessa.” The story is good enough, but it would be nice to have some consistency between narrators.

This narrator is fine until she tries to do the accents. Coming from Elizabeth Evans to this is pretty grating. Stacys accents are pretty awful. Her French and Irish accents sound the same. I do recall maybe Chris having a thick Texas accent which he does not now. Its just crazy Id imagine if you're writing a book where characters have thick accents you'd find someone who can effectively pull those off. At least she pronounced the names correctly I guess, unlike the narrator of the previous book.

I’m in chapter 3 and the narrator has mispronounced 2 of the major pieces in the series. The schools name and Dastien. I understand that since the book is from a different characters perspective there needs to be a new voice, but jeeze. Did no one proofread or proof-listen? Also she gave Dastien a heavy French accent. Again, I get he’s from France but he’s lived in Texas for quite awhile, why would his accent be so thick. Especially since it wasn’t so think in the last 3 books. Really takes me out of the story.

The book is fine, I’ll listen to anything Elizabeth evans reads. Here’s my issue, Tessa can be a bit annoying with all here “huh?” “What?” “No way” how is it possible she doesn’t believe in magic or witches, when she has magical powers and so does her mother and grandmother. How is she so resistant to the fact that werewolves exist? And when she finds out, she has ZERO idea how it works? You can’t even guess based on all the books and movies? Totally not realistic.
