Dear complainers:

This story is the most perfect conclusion to wulfric’s tale and here is why:
The author stated he is a fan of mideval history. I thought of Wulfric as a Viking transitioning to feudal Europe who ends up fighting in the holy land.
If you’ve ever read Norse mythology stories, you’ll know this ending complete with fire and visions of loved ones is classic old Norse stories. If you haven’t, it’ll feel harsh and extremely unfamiliar. Context is everything...just like wulfric and money.

I loved the time gap because wulfric never got married(devoted to true love), never forgave and never forgot his loss. To read a story filled with hollow adventures of a man steeped in sorrow would be empty indeed. His purpose remained...revenge and it simply took a long time to complete it. No need for book 4.

I could have done with the creation of the sword coming earlier in the story as it was an amazing portion of the story and felt like it came a little late to the game but overall, I was just glad to have it included.

I don’t think the author got tired of his own story at all. It’s a heartbreaking and powerful story of love and personal power. It’s a tale of love and loss and the insurmountable becoming surmountable. And loss is unfortunately inevitable.
Grab life with both hands and fearlessly follow wulfric, my new book boyfriend.
Ah! I loved this series. It took me away to a world where possibilities and powers abound with effort and sacrifice required first. The dichotomy if north vs south was so fun to play with in my head, it had to have been fun to write. Context is everything.
Simon Vance did a great job narrating. The story was heightened in its magical qualities with his skills.

I bought the second book before the first ended. Can’t wait!!

2nd time

First time I read this it was a book I devoured and got lost in. I’ve wished to read it again but needed it in audio. Praise heaven for audible escape to allow me to truly retreat into this love and emotion filled story.
I live this author, I love how deeply I sink into her words.
The narrators did a great job with this story.
I recommend this to anyone but especially to people looking for love and acceptance.

Rich world

Such a deep rich world to get lost in. World building focused on the ‘new’ religious order and it’s gods and the old ways.
Loved the narrator.
The male lead was an interesting character to be sure and now that the story is over, I wish I knew him better.
The romance was tender but not sweeping or the main point if the story.
I will likely read the other books by the same authors, they aren’t continuations if this story so I’m definitely less hungry for them.
Read with audible escape package.

Ebook first, now audio

Read this book first as an ebook. Enjoyed enough to reread it now that it’s on audio. It is very much a YA book. Teen drama, over the top stuff here and there but if you let yourself lean in to it and not take it too seriously, it’s such an enjoyable escape.

Loved this story. Everything ends on cliffhangers...typical Of this writer. Still love the stories though. I’m so so curious how the development of Simon plays out.
I wish all or none of her books were in the audible escape package. I feel a bit led on. I get into a series and since it’s in the escape package I enjoy it immensely and then all of a sudden...I have to start paying for the books.
Bummer, since I pay for the package to allow me to read lots more than I can afford to buy.

Fun but...

Great chemistry. Fun story full of funny moments. The ending is abrupt and slightly dissatisfactory but overall an enjoyable read under the audible escape umbrella.
