Historia
Weather Menders is a cli-fi novel for the hopeful. What if time travelers from 300 years in the future told you that there was a chance that you could prevent catastrophic climate change, plagues, and wars by going back in time to key pivot points and ethically altering the outcome of rigged elections? What if failure would result in the end of all life on the planet? Would you go?

An audiobook for these times
Revisado: 05-09-20
How utterly fascinating that this audiobook was released on March 30, 2020. In the midst of the COVID-19 crisis, it doesn’t seem as fictional to me as it would have before now. I have enjoyed cli-fi books in the past. This one grabbed me as another possible outcome of our denial that we have been gambling with our future.

Historia
Raised in South Carolina and New York, Woodson always felt halfway home in each place. In vivid poems, she shares what it was like to grow up as an African American in the 1960s and 1970s, living with the remnants of Jim Crow and her growing awareness of the Civil Rights movement. Touching and powerful, each poem is both accessible and emotionally charged, each line a glimpse into a child's soul as she searches for her place in the world.

Historia
For years, Sue Monk Kidd was a conventionally religious woman. Then, in the late 1980s, she experienced an unexpected awakening, and began a journey toward a feminine spirituality. With the exceptional storytelling skills that have helped make her name, Kidd tells her very personal story of the fear, anger, healing, and freedom she experienced on the path toward the wholeness that many women have lost in the church.

Appetizer for her newer book
Revisado: 07-23-18
Sue Monk Kidd’s spiritual journey is as pertinent today as it was 20 years ago. I am grateful it was reissued. I found it inspirational and affirming of my own journey. However, having read the other reviews, I see now that I need to get her 2018 book, When the Heart Waits.

Disappointed
Revisado: 05-25-18
I eagerly anticipated Kristin Hannah’s latest novel. The Nightengale is one of my favorite books. I found The Great Alone to be a difficult book to get through. In fact, I would have given up halfway through if I hadn’t read reviews which said the ending redeemed it. I used Audible’s speed settings to get through the tedious parts about the abuse. The ending was worth going back to regular speed but not good enough to give the story more than two stars.
