Life Changing and Encouraging

Currently going through a career transition and working on my mindset. I saw this book title, and thought it would help me keep moving on my journey. It provided insight that I needed to be reminded of or see in a new light. It was like "a tough love" speech I needed to hear. So now I will apply that consistent effort I need to make to achieve my dreams.

Dynamic Characters

Highlights the complexity of the human condition and heart. Felt so many emotions for and against the main characters. The inner dialogue and struggles were so keenly felt by the reader and the author knew at just the right moment when to reveal bits and pieces of information that continually weaved a web of intrigue.

Inspirational and full of Affirmations

After reading GRIT by Angela Duckworth and the part about her interview with Pete Carroll, I sought out his book. I found this book very moving and inspiring. I can tweak his philosophy to fit my career for sure. The only negative would be the narration. I had to slow down the speed and turn up volume so I could hear the end of phases he said.

Even better the second time around

This book is so authentically funny, inspirational and true to Kevin Hart. I have always been a Kevin Hart fan, but this was a great way to learn how he got to where he is in life. I was mentally taking notes for my own life, in between some much needed laughs. Good for the soul!

Good beginner book for basic conversational skills

A great refresher on basics I have not implemented regularly, and helping me think about my speaking skills as I am stepping up my game as a leader in my field. Breakdown in communication can cause many problems, but I want to be part of the solution as much as possible. This book helps with this. Would love to see tips for handling confrontation and negative people though.

Retrospective piece about Cultural Legacies

This is a book that I am glad I pushed through to the end. The ending of this book brought everything in the previous chapters together. As an educator, I found myself nodding, agreeing and enlightened from chapters 8 until the end of the book. This book shows the bigger picture of how people and for what reasons they find success. I will probably go back and reread Chapter 8 and 9. Most relatable and interesting parts of the book.

Thriller read for Young Adult readers

The plot was pretty interesting, and I think the love story will appeal to young female readers. I felt the narration was a little dramatic, but overall did not keep me from finishing the book.
