The second instalment of Bow Street Duchess Series does not disappoint! You will root for Audrey Sinclair, the Duchess of Fournier & Bow Street Runner Detective Hugh Marsden in solving this murder mystery. Allie Rose has impeccable pacing with her narration and gives the characters depth, humour and most importantly dislike the right characters.

The perfect trifecta of ingredients

Regency era, supernatural abilities, crime solving with a healthy dash of attraction PLUS a well delivered narration by Allie Rose!!

I try my best not to discuss the plot in case I accidentally spoil it for others. What I love are the characters, none of the women who are touted as intelligent but then do many things that make you cringe in disbelief.

Cara Devlin introduces her main female character as intelligent and gifted but due to her history regarding her gift she is still innocent in many ways. How Ms. Devlin writes and develops each of the characters is thoughtful and if you are new to Regency Era stories (any pre modern settings) you are made aware of the era’s restrictions on women especially of the upper tier and those of the peerage.

Please read or listen to the series in the order intended. Ms. Devlin develops each of her characters with each instalment and how they play into that book. You will love the plots, the smart & witty dialogues and develop the healthy dislike to those horrible characters and cheer along the right ones!

The Series Keeps Getting Better!!

I do not have the words for how enjoyable this series is! I immediately got all of the available books and audio after book 2. You will laugh, cheer and laugh even more
All the characters are divinely annoying, riveting and / or you will hope you can count them amongst your friends. Ms. Messina is a brilliant writer!! Please continue your superb writing.

Duh

Kate is a typical example of someone who isn’t mature then again most of us aren’t as teens. The blatant lack of logic is mind boggling. Kate isn’t a strong individual who makes good choices for someone who has a sociopathic stalker and a death contract on her life.
Then again it is the difference between European teens and American teens.

The character of Kate had the potential of being a strong personality yet plies her sexuality for safety and thrills. Sigh…..

A disclaimer…okay 3:

1st-I’m great fan of Justine Eyre and will listen to anything she narrates.

2nd-I’m great fan of Betrice Small due to my fondness of Justine Eyre. Ms. Small is an intelligent writer of history and romance. Her romantic stories are set within an accurate backdrop of the history the characters are written in.

3rd-I adore the Skye O’Malley series and this is a follow up of that series.

This is funny, sad and tickles ones fancy & other things.

A fun & amusing tale

Justin Eyre is brilliant in her performance. Ms. Small takes the love hate relationship that I loved in Pride & Prejudice and mixes in the smouldering sensual heat.

Skeptical at first but DELIGHTED

I really didn’t have a great level of expectation due to the various unpleasant comments about Billie Fulford-Brown’s performance. Initially her voice reminded me of Susan Duerden’s, whom I am not fond of. I quickly warmed to Ms. Fulford-Brown’s voice since she articulates very well, differentiates the characters sufficiently and most importantly she expresses emotions with great details. I was chuckling, laughing, cringing at the protagonists bad behaviour and feeling happiness & sadness. I did buy the book but I couldn’t do any justice by just reading it. Ms.Fulford-Brown’s interpretation brought life to the story. I’m looking forward to other works of Ms. Fulford-Brown’s narratives along side of Justine Eyre & Rosalyn Landor interpretations.

Bravo to Ms. Callie Hutton for writing a fun, saucy romance!!!
