Absurd
Revisado: 04-24-23
Hollow, almost a story and yet nowhere close to being worthy of being published as a book. It could have, almost, if you squint one eye while simultaneously plugging both ears could have possibly had potential in there somewhere but it’s too bad to be worthy of the time investment required to perform the autopsy necessary to determine where the potential remains.

Genius!
Revisado: 03-27-22
I must confess, I judged this book so poorly when I found it in my “Recommended for you” Audible list. When I read the summary and then listened to the sample, I falsely concluded that the plot was so ridiculous that no author could turn it into a sophisticated story, so no one was more shocked than I to discover the moment when it occurred to me that the author had tricked me and gone and done just that, turn a plot as ridiculous as this one into a genius storyline backlit by a keen awareness of true human behavior.

Historia
In her masterful new novel, Ivy Pochoda creates a kaleidoscope of loss, power, and hope featuring five very different women whose lives are steeped in danger and anguish. They’re connected by one man and his deadly obsession, though not all of them know that yet. There’s Dorian, still adrift after her daughter’s murder remains unsolved.

Bravo
Revisado: 07-12-21
By far, the narrators are the best I’ve ever heard used to bring a story to life. The book is so incredible I would have loved it, regardless, but the narrators made the characters so alive and present it felt more like I attended a play rather than listened to a story.

Pete Banning was Clanton's favorite son, a returning war hero, the patriarch of a prominent family, a farmer, a father, a neighbor, and a faithful member of the Methodist church. Then one cool October morning in 1946, he rose early, drove into town, walked into the church, and calmly shot and killed the Reverend Dexter Bell.

I could not stop listening!
Revisado: 11-06-18
I am so shocked by the bad reviews!!!! I’ve read some Grisham but not every book he’s ever written and while I agree this isn’t a court room thriller, it is a profound and rich character study and is painful in its accurate reflection of the collateral damage the acts, mistakes, and confused perspective wrought by people. Even great people. Strong people. People big and small are fallible and none of us are spared. I listened to this book for 10 straight hours on day 1 and finished it on day 2.

This book started off a little slow and uninteresting despite the subject matter but then suddenly something happens and it takes off. Once it did, it left me changed for the better. I'm so glad I listened to it.

If there’s anything they can count on, it’s each other. Clementine and Erika are each other’s oldest friends. A single look between them can convey an entire conversation. Bravo Liane Moriarty and Caroline Lee
Revisado: 07-31-16
I don't know how Liane Moriarty keeps doing it! How can she have this many extraordinary books in her and when can I get another, please? The characters, the nuance in relationships, in perspective, guilt, regret, love, loss...Liane Moriarty writes these things better than anyone else.
And, I truly wish that Caroline Lee not only narrated every book I listen to but I also wish she would do voice overs in my daily life, too.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

Worst Jane Green book
Revisado: 07-24-16
I hate to hate this book because I love Jane Green so much that I even preordered this one, but I just didn't like it. Hate is too strong of a word for how I feel about it but it certainly is the worst book she's ever written. If it was someone else's book it wouldn't be too bad but knowing her past work and her talent set a bar for this book that it just didn't reach. And, I also don't want to disparage get any further but I wish she would stop narrating her own books. She does a good job for the lead female character but a poor job on everyone else.

This book is so bad
Revisado: 04-06-16
I kept listening just because I couldn't find another book to replace it with and a lot of time to fill packing and moving so I needed something, but I regret every minute of it. This book was so bad it made me angry to listen to it. The dialogue is weak, the relationships are unbelievable, the characters are a joke and the story is not only ill conceived but all over the place...pick a direction, a plot, a story line!! Don't waste your time with this book. I don't understand how the author is a New York Times best selling author because he/she struggles with the basics like character and plot development. It's like a talented middle schooler wrote this book.

Historia
One night Don, a father of three, leaves his house for an evening stroll only to wake up the next morning stoned and sleeping in a hammock next to a young woman he barely knows. His wife, Claire, leaves the house on this same night to go on a midnight run - only to find herself bumming cigarettes and beer outside the all-night convenience store. As the summer lingers and the temperature rises, this quotidian town's adults grow wilder and more reckless while their children grow increasingly confused.

Loved!
Revisado: 03-26-16
I loved this book. It was like Richard Russo meets Jonathan Tropper meets American Beauty. I often spend hours on Audible looking for a good book. I've either read or listened to so many that it's difficult to find another that catches my attention. This one was buried deep within the list and I'm so glad I kept digging until I found it. I highly recommend it.
