I cannot imagine a better narrator for this series. George Newburn does a terrific job. The stories are wonderful and well organized. So much fun! I can't wait for the next book in this series.

It's an idyllic late-summer day in Saddlestring, Wyoming, and game warden Joe Pickett is fly-fishing with his two daughters when he stumbles upon the mutilated body of a moose. gets off to a slow start
Revisado: 01-19-23
I've been enjoying the Joe Pickett book series. This book, however, seems to get off to a slow start and trudges along slowly until about halfway through. But that's just my opinion. I'm still looking forward to the next book in the series.

Nils Shapiro accepts what appears to be an easy, lucrative job: find out if Beverly Mayer’s grandson is foolishly throwing away his trust fund in Hollywood, especially now, in the wake of his fiancée’s tragic death. However, that easy job becomes much more complicated once Nils arrives in Los Angeles, a disorienting place where the sunshine hides dark secrets. Nils quickly suspects that Ebben Mayer’s fiancée was murdered and that Ebben himself may have been the target.

a pleasantly surprising read.
Revisado: 12-30-21
I'm not much of a reviewer, but after reading some of the other comments on the narration and story. I decided to share my thoughts.
McLeod Andrews did such an amazing job narrating the first three books in this series. When I read that Bronson Pinchot would be narrating this one I was almost predisposed to not like his narration, especially after reading some of the other reviews here.
After the first couple of chapters, I really started to connect with the way Bronson Pinchot created the voices of the various characters.
I'm very happy with the narration. I think the story was just fine (perhaps a little dragged out at the end).
Overall, I'm glad I listened to it and I look forward to the next book.

Historia
When a reclusive market gardener's death proves to stem from a 20-year-old bullet wound, Lieutenant Joe Gunther is presented with a very cold homicide to solve. But who was the victim exactly? A deeply private man eking out an ascetic existence from a hardscrabble mountain field, Abraham Fuller was virtually unknown to his neighbors, in the manner of someone pursuing more than mere solitude. The discovery of a bag full of unmarked bills and a body buried in the garden patch suggests that Fuller had motives beyond misanthropy.

I don't write reviews.
Revisado: 05-12-21
But in this case I'm afraid I'm going to have to make an exception. for a long time I've been looking for a procedural crime series that will keep me as happy as Michael Connelly's Harry Bosch series did. I've listened to a lot and haven't found anything that I really connected with until now.
The Joe Gunther Mysteries are outstanding. the stories are carefully crafted and incredibly well researched. And the narrator is truly an outstanding artist. He is easy to listen to and the voices of his different characters are so incredibly good.
I think I've only just finished the third book in the series, but I am so much looking forward to getting through all of them this summer.

Historia
In his final hours in the Oval Office, the outgoing President grants a controversial last-minute pardon to Joel Backman, a notorious Washington power broker who has spent the last six years hidden away in a federal prison. What no one knows is that the President issues the pardon only after receiving enormous pressure from the CIA. It seems Backman, in his power broker heyday, may have obtained secrets that compromise the world’s most sophisticated satellite surveillance system.

More of a language and tour guide.
Revisado: 02-11-21
There's a story for sure but I felt the book really was more of a Italian language guide and tourist guide for parts of Italy than a gripping suspense thriller mystery.

Good stories. Sloppy editing in The Brethren.
Revisado: 01-12-21
The two stories were fine. listening to the second book, The Brethren, was a little frustrating at times because there are at least six or seven times when the narrator reads the same sentence twice. obviously expecting that someone would edit one of them out.

What happened to the conversation with the author?
Revisado: 10-05-20
This audiobook is promoted as having a conversation between the author and narrator Scott Brick at the end. In fact, there is no such conversation. The last words on this audiobook are "And now a conversation with the author." And then the recording ends. I was really looking forward to that.
