Historia
I found the journal at work. Well, I don't know if you'd call it work, but that's where I found it. It's the lost journal of Nikola Tesla, one of the greatest inventors and visionaries ever. Before he died in 1943, he kept a notebook filled with spectacular claims and outrageous plans.

Not a representative work for Stephenson
Revisado: 10-12-18
Not one of the better Stephensen books. Sections of the book ramble on with back and forth date narratives. Makes staying focused on the story distracting.

Historia
Dimension of Miracles is a satirical science fiction novel first published by Dell in 1968. It's about Tom Carmody, a New Yorker who, thanks to a computer error, wins the main prize in the Intergalactic Sweepstakes. Tom claims his prize before the error is discovered and is allowed to keep it. I loved this book, laughed out loud until my face hurt. Intelligent, witty, and very well narrated. I was not in the mood to laugh when I started this book, but decided to give it a shot. I was pleasantly surprised, and my mood was instantly altered. Highly recommend

not his best, but still good
Revisado: 03-28-15
The narrators voice was a little too subdued and mono-toned, but maybe that was the desired effect to compliment this dark story.

you can sit on the edge of your seat for 38 hours
Revisado: 03-28-15
I kept wondering how so much suspense could be packed into a mere 38 hours, but Stephenson managed to com up with new creative ways to keep you interested. I really liked this story, and the characters. The narrator also did a great job with the character voices.

Historia
Not too long from today, a new, highly contagious virus makes its way across the globe. Most who get sick experience nothing worse than flu, fever, and headaches. But for the unlucky one percent - and nearly five million souls in the United States alone - the disease causes "Lock In": Victims fully awake and aware, but unable to move or respond to stimulus. The disease affects young, old, rich, poor, people of every color and creed. The world changes to meet the challenge.

Not his best
Revisado: 10-07-14
The story line was original, but the execution was not as great as some of Scalzis other works. I enjoyed it, but the plot sort of dragged on, and there was a strange compilation of news style clips just tacked on to the end of the book that really didn't do much to enhance the story.

Another quirky Scalzi sci-fi great
Revisado: 10-07-14
John Scalzi seems to crank out two types of books, those in the serial style of Asimov, and those with a sense of humor that is uniquely his own. This one is the latter.
The story line follows an alien that finds the way to integrate into human acceptance is not through politics, or systematic desensitization, but with the help of a great publicist.
The humor in this book is what endears me to Scalzis other books of this type and I would recommend all of them.
Wil Wheatons performance is great as usual.

Predicatable, but entertaining
Revisado: 10-07-14
The story was sort of vanilla as far as the genre goes, even trending a little towards young adult. The usual good guy gone bad for all the right reasons, and a love interest thrown into the mix.
The narrator did a good job with the characters and made it worth listening to.

In this Hugo-nominated novel, an alien walks into a museum and asks if he can see a paleontologist. But the arachnid ET hasn't come aboard a rowboat with the Pope and Stephen Hawking (although His Holiness does request an audience later). Interesting narrative
Revisado: 10-07-14
A lot of reviews voice frustration with the philosophical discussion in this book, but I thought it was well ordered, and the theme surrounding the progression of emotion, and change of ideals when faced with mortality was well thought out.
The only reason I did not give it five stars is that the narration was a little mono-toned, and could lull you into sleep
