Historia
On paper, Merina Wilde has it all: a successful career writing the kind of romantic novels that make even the hardest hearts swoon, a perfect carousel of book launches and parties to keep her social life buzzing and a childhood sweetheart who thinks she’s a goddess. But Merry has a secret: the magic has stopped flowing from her fingers. Try as she might, she can’t summon up the sparkle that makes her stories shine.

Woman comes to islands and goes nuts over good-looking men--I didn't buy the romance, but understood why her old boyfriend dumped her.

Best Zane Grey
Revisado: 04-11-22
I have enjoyed the novels of Zane Grey for years, but have also been aware of some of the weaknesses of his writing. I read Wildfire a few years ago and only recently found it on Audible. What a wonderful experience! Listening to it read by Pete Bradberry made me realize how fantastic the writing is in this book. From the gripping horse chase to the final rescue scene, this book held me enthralled. I think it is my new favorite.

love Loring early books
Revisado: 03-18-22
I love Ms. Loring’s wonderful books which give us a picture into the 1920s and 30s. This is the first one on audio and the narrator is not professional, but I enjoyed having the book read to me by something other than the robotic voice on Kindle. I am quadriplegic and have to be get my books on audiobooks. I hope more of Loring’s books are put on audio.

Historia
Hi, my name is Bree Camden, and I’m hopelessly in love with my best friend and star quarterback Nathan Donelson (so is half of America, judging by the tabloids and how much the guy dates). The first step is admitting it, right? Except, I can never admit it to him because he clearly doesn’t see me that way, and the last thing I want is for things to get weird between us. Nothing but good old-fashioned no-touching-the-sexiest-man-alive platonic friendship for us! Everything is exactly how I like it! Yes. Good. (I’m not crying; I’m just peeling an onion.)

hated female narrator
Revisado: 01-18-22
The book was okay but the female narrator’s manic delivery made this character not fit at all with the male protagonist. I gritted my teeth and made it through.

Historia
"Call me Ishmael." Thus starts the greatest American novel. Melville said himself that he wanted to write "a mighty book about a mighty theme" and so he did. It is a story of one man's obsessive revenge-journey against the white whale, Moby-Dick, who injured him in an earlier meeting. Woven into the story of the last journey of The Pequod is a mesh of philosophy, rumination, religion, history, and a mass of information about whaling through the ages.

WOW!
Revisado: 01-01-22
Just listened to the audiobook of Herman Melville’s Moby Dick – 40 years after reading it – and can only say WOW! The powerful narrator brought this great American novel to life in a way I could never have expected. I actually taught Moby Dick to high school students some years after I had read the entire book, but the excerpts in the textbook only had the first few and last few chapters. Of course, they are the most important to the story. My memory of the interior section of the novel (read when I was 20 or so) was many pages of whaling details. This is somewhat true; however, in the hands of this narrator, those details enhance and build to the climactic scene and conclusion. The biblical symbolism throughout the book is intensified in the characters Ahab and the first mate Starbuck as portrayed by the narrator. Though I do not know that Melville intended this as he wrote over 150 years ago, this book is also a great argument against the slaughter of whales. I always taught the book as the murder of God’s creation as a sin against God and the sin for which the entire crew – except for Ishmael, who lives to tell the story – dies.
Any listener who begins to get stalled in the interior chapters should persevere because the final chapter will blow the top of your head off!

I adore tihis book!!
Revisado: 12-01-20
This is the first book I've read I by this author and I was very surprised at how beautifully written it is. It is uplifting, inspirational, and I I have already purchased the second book in this series. It has been many years since I lived in Texas – and then only a few years in Dallas – but I've lived in southern Oklahoma close to the Texas border. Lisa Wingate has caught the feel of small-town people from the time I lived there. The narrator did a wonderful job catching the poetic feel of her description. I'm adding this to my collection of favorite books to listen to again. I am happy to have a another favorite author.

Some days, all you need is a message from a stranger. Ruby Santos knew exactly what she was getting herself into when she signed up to write a soldier overseas. The guidelines were simple: one letter or email a week for the length of his or her deployment. Care packages were optional. Been there, done that. She thought she knew what to expect. What she didn't count on was falling in love with the guy.

Revisado: 10-17-20
I like most of this authors books, but this one is the very best. The love story is achingly sweet, I love the texting and messaging as a build up to a physical meeting. Am embarrassed to say this, but I listen to this book over and over and always pick up something I missed. I've also read the book a few times which clarifies things in the audible book. Both narrators are among my favorite. I'm glad she tells more about Aaron and Ruby In From Lukof with Love.
