Don’t really see the point
Revisado: 03-06-24
Little or no story in this one. Just a lot of dialogue between characters. The others in this series aren’t any better. Pretty much a waste of time. R C Bray was good as usual but that is about the only positive in this book.

Historia
Killing the sadistic warlord known as the Dog Tongue took everything Gus Berry had, including the woman he loved. Now, all he wants is to get away from the bloody scene of their final showdown. But when he heads west in a stolen truck, a brutal snowstorm forces him to turn back—and seek refuge in the Dog Tongue’s former headquarters. Though it’s littered with human carnage, the abandoned luxury hotel has a lot to offer a guy like Gus. But in addition to soft beds and working toilets, he encounters still-lurking dangers both living and undead.

Not Bad
Revisado: 10-15-23
It’s a very good series overall. R C Bray is probably my favorite reader. This book started out a bit slow but got more interesting as it went along.

Historia
Thus Thomas Covenant, accompanied by Linden Avery, begins his search for the One Tree aboard the giantship Starfare’s Gem. Armed with the knowledge given to him in Andelain by his trusted friend, the Forestal Hile Troy, Covenant was determined to succeed. He was the last hope for the salvation of the Land, because only he had the power to forge a new Staff of Law and, with it, to stop the encroaching desecration of the Sunbane and the bloody sacrificial rites of the Clave.

So disappointed!
Revisado: 12-11-22
I read this book years ago and liked it very much. Have been looking for it on Audible for a good while so when I saw it finally available I was very happy. Immediately used a credit to download. Very quickly I realized that it would be a struggle to get through. The narrator is probably the worst overall I’ve heard. Hard to even describe the irritation in listening to this guy. Terrible at trying to do different characters, Never seems to pause or indicate a change in character or chapter. One just runs into the next most of the time. Little or no emotion and everything he says sounds the same. He almost totally ruined the book for me. Will not listen to anything else from this narrator.

Historia
Living off the land and adapting to a changing environment takes a special individual with the unique skills, training, and determination necessary to survive. Gus Berry is not that individual. The former house painter barely made it out of Annapolis as its population underwent a violent transformation, leaving everyone he knew or loved dead—or undead. Now, Gus needs food and booze, weapons and armor, clothing that fits, and above all, toilet paper, preferably two-ply.

Total waste of time!
Revisado: 03-17-22
Up to now I’ve liked this series. The writing in these books hasn’t always been the best but overall it has been an enjoyable series to listen to. R C Bray is one of my favorite readers. But even he could not save the terrible writing in this one. No story at all! Seemed to be only an excuse to push out another book based on the success or popularity of the other ones. I saw some of the bad reviews before listening to this one but hoped it wasn’t as bad as some had described. It Was! Will be returning this one. This book has lessened my regard for the entire series and to a lesser extent my regard for R C Bray. I wonder if it left a bad taste in his mouth after reading it.

Revisado: 09-26-21
After completely enjoying all the other books in this series I was expecting better from this listening than I received. Actually struggled to finish it. Story didn’t seem to be going anywhere. Just appeared to be filler without a lot of substance. A bunch of dialogue between characters and little action. RC Bray was good but disappointed overall.

Continuing to enjoy this set of books. I read these books many years ago and was thrilled to see them on Audible. Can’t wait for the next 3 books to become available on Audible. But book 2 of The Last Chronicles of Thomas Covenant needs to become available on Audible as well. Can’t understand why it’s the only one of the last series that we can’t get.

Worst of the series
Revisado: 05-03-20
Only got this book because I have listened to the rest of the series already. Wanted to see what else it had to offer. I liked most of the previous books so I was hoping this would be as good. It wasn’t! Some of the stupidest writing I have ever listened to. Most of the profanity was ridiculously stupid. Totally unnecessary for the progression of the story. Had a hard time listening to the whole thing. Should have ended the series before this if this is all that the writer could come up with. This may be just a wasted credit. Very disappointed. The only positive is the narrator. He does the best he could do with the material. I can’t imagine how bad this would have been with a bad narrator.

Disappointed.
Revisado: 04-23-20
The storyline sounded interesting and I liked that this was a boxed set so there was a lot of listening time. But I think the big disappointment was the narrator. Had never listened to a book with this one before although I am familiar with the reader. Thought he did a poor job with the different characters. The more I heard the more I didn’t like it.Think it would have been more enjoyable with a different narrator. Held just enough interest to finish but not much more.

Need to have all books in this series available as soon as possible! Have waited a long time for these books to be available on Audible and have enjoyed the first 2 but now I’m looking for the next one. I would assume that the rest are going to be coming to Audible but am not entirely sure yet. Would like to know. Read all of the first Chronicles many years ago and they were some of my favorite books. Scott Brick is excellent. Have not been disappointed.
