Historia
This is the book the CIA does not want you to read. For the last 60 years, the CIA has maintained a formidable reputation in spite of its terrible record, never disclosing its blunders to the American public. It spun its own truth to the nation while reality lay buried in classified archives. Now, Pulitzer Prize-winning New York Times reporter Tim Weiner offers a stunning indictment of the CIA, a deeply flawed organization that has never deserved America's confidence.

very enlightening. I would have liked a better transition from one theme to the other and a sense of some nexus or connector between the events. aput differently, the logic of the organization of the narrative is lost on me.

The Spandau Diary -- what was in it? Why did the secret intelligence agencies of every major power want it? Why was a brave and beautiful woman kidnapped to get it? Why did a chain of deception and violent death lash out across the globe, from survivors of the Nazi past to warriors in this new conflict about to explode? Why did the world's entire history of World War II have to be rewritten as the future hung over a nightmare abyss?

Thrilling story and exciting narration

Entertaining and lively. A few obvious deliberate snafus that appears to be a stretch but inserted clearly to drive the plot.

the plot and narration
Revisado: 03-22-24
Exciting narration, the highs and lows, and the insights into the shadow society hidden in plain sight and the way mainstream society walk around them, including the justice system is quite a picture that Grisham brings to life. The ending uplifts humanity and leaves a shimmering light at the tunnel’s exit.

Zany and vivacious Nissi Richards always had her sights set on one goal—her career. As the youngest doctor at Optimal Dentistry, Nissi is the epitome of Black Girl Magic and a #GoalCrusher. Dating, however, was a different topic, or rather more of a non-existent headline. Despite her best friend's botched matchmaking attempts and her meddlesome sisters who insist she hook a man, love and marriage were never on Nissi's to-do list—at least not that she'd admit.

Trashy
Revisado: 02-25-24
It lacked any depth. It is all about a lady obsessed with intercourse with men she fancied and sisters whose preoccupations are men, as if that is all to the daily lives of that segment of the society. I recommended the book to a friend who promptly abandoned it as tasteless. I concur.

Informative and Insightful
Revisado: 05-18-23
I have listened to this historical review over four times, still learning new things and provoked into deeper reflections about the impact of personality and values on judgment and choice. It is also offers an insightful illustration of the pervasiveness of politics. It has led me to augment the truism of PPE into that of Politics Philosophy Economics and it’s impact on Law. Masterfully rendered.

Dull

Even Tony Roberts's engaging performance could not salvage the dull story. This time the dull tale got the performer and flattened his tempo and the interest of the reader. Black Dog is a Refund Me material, if ever there is one.

entirely too predictable
Revisado: 05-31-22
struggled to finish what quickly became a one-sided hero tale depicting the opponents as bumbling idiots who nonetheless continue to trouble the ever-super smarts. one must wonder how things always seem propitious leading the protagonists to unravel what no other agency or unit can. when you believe that you are right, go rogue. such unprincipled/maverick tac raises doubt as to the distinction between the evil confronted and the good. Overall, will not recommend the story.

Historia
Attorney Garrett Goodlove never thought he'd prosecute a medical malpractice case. Doctors swear an oath to help people, and those cases are usually honest mistakes blown up by ambulance chasers. But when he learns of a woman bodybuilder who went into the ER with a case of heartburn and came out in a wheelchair, he starts paying attention. It appears the doctor who saw her frequently orders open-heart surgery for patients who don't need it, sometimes leading to disability or death.
