Historia
Jack Reacher wakes up alone, in the dark, handcuffed to a makeshift bed. His right arm has suffered some major damage. His few possessions are gone. He has no memory of getting there. The last thing Reacher can recall is the car he hitched a ride in getting run off the road. The driver was killed. His captors assume Reacher was the driver’s accomplice and patch up his wounds as they plan to make him talk. A plan that will backfire spectacularly . . .

Not very engaging
Revisado: 02-21-25
I've always looked forward to new stories of Reacher. This story seemed to fall flat. I miss the quality of Dick Hill's narration. Scott Brick's narration was dull, so little difference between characters that it was hard to know who was talking. I found my mind often wandering, and once that starts to happen, lights out.

Historia
On December 16, 1944, the vanguard of three German armies, totaling half a million men, attacked US forces in the Ardennes region of Belgium and Luxembourg, achieving what had been considered impossible - total surprise. In the most abysmal failure of battlefield intelligence in the history of the US Army, 600,000 American soldiers found themselves facing Hitler's last desperate effort of the war. The brutal confrontation that ensued became known as the Battle of the Bulge, the greatest battle ever fought by the US Army - a triumph of American ingenuity and dedication.

Needs a better narrator
Revisado: 03-16-21
The book is comprehensive in scope and details. Even though it contained much more detail than I could absorb, it was exhaustive but interesting. As a textbook, it contained of wealth of information. However as an audiobook, with a monotonous narrator who frequently mispronounced and labored through names and locations, it was difficult to listen to. The written perspective switched frequently from the German to the Allied side. The narration made it more difficult to follow the change in perspectives.

Narration left a lot to be desired
Revisado: 12-01-19
I've listened to several of Rosenberg's books and found them timely and engaging. He is a gifted writer. So much of enjoyment of a story, though, hinges on the narrator's skills in bringing the various characters to life. Patrick Lawlor is good at reading the story, but he makes all the characters sound basically the same. The book was great but the narration left a lot to be desired.
