The Best And Brightest
Revisado: 03-29-23
This audiobook was without a doubt the most enjoyable and entertaining read I have had in a VERY long time. It hit all the standards that made me want this story to not end. The character development was outstanding, the performance and narratives were perfect, and the story was absolutely beautiful. Simply beautiful. I recommend this title with the highest possible amount of stars. This is the second audiobook of the series, and I found there are some interactions linking the first book, however, I believe that I could have understood this second title fully as a standalone read, or in reverse order. But I highly recommend reading the first book also as it is superbly written. Highest recommendation.

There wasn’t a time when I didn't know Flynn “Firecracker” Honeycutt. He’s been my childhood friend. My high school rival. The guy I couldn’t stop dreaming about, long after I thought I’d left him and Honeybridge in my rear-view mirror.

Most Excellent Story
Revisado: 12-26-22
I literally couldn’t put this audiobook down because of the incredible storyline between Frog (J.T) and Firecracker (Flynn). The interaction between them is so well narrated, which helped drive the character development throughout the story. Sexy, steamy, twisty, and emotional, this narrative has it all. Top rating for the story and narration - a really terrific title!

Outstanding Teen Sport Romance
Revisado: 12-06-22
The story between Jeremy and Beck is both comical and dramatic, as well as sensual and loving. It starts with two unlikely wrestling students dealing with their coming out drama at the beginning of the school year. The story evolves as the wrestling year begins and is loaded with a variety of characters that are well developed. I loved this first entry into the SSU story line and look forward to the next entry.

My Favorite MM Coming of Age Romance Story - EVER!
Revisado: 08-06-22
For some reason, this story by Michaella Cole was so captivating; it grabbed me from the opening credits and held my interest more than any other MM story I have listened to from Audible (a considerable amount of titles) until the final words were spoken. I found the story to be so well composed and the plot so well thought out and believable that I went from tears to laughter in just minutes several times throughout the story. I don't want to give the story away, but between Jason and Ryne, the dynamics were so real that my heart was always engaged. Ryne's character was especially well developed and made for a fascinating thread throughout the story. 5 Stars, and six if I could give them. A fantastic start to the "Knoxton Knights" Series, for which I can hardly wait for the next chapter.

Terrific Conclusion to a Great Story
Revisado: 04-01-22
I was wondering how this fantastic story was going to end. The characters throughout the Whispering Key storyline were so well developed I wondered how the author was going to conclude the storyline where everyone seemed to come to an end and yet made everything work out such that there was a good conclusion. I was not disappointed in the least. In fact I was elated by the conclusion. The series could have gone on for another book as I thought the ending was a bit abrupt, but I was not disappointed. A great story with many characters that I will not forget.

Historia
Beginning in the predawn darkness of June 6, 1944, The First Wave follows the remarkable men who carried out D-Day’s most perilous missions. The charismatic, unforgettable cast includes the first American paratrooper to touch down on Normandy soil; the glider pilot who braved antiaircraft fire to crash-land mere yards from the vital Pegasus Bridge; the brothers who led their troops onto Juno Beach under withering fire; as well as a French commando, returning to his native land, who fought to destroy German strongholds on Sword Beach and beyond.

A Story of Selfless Sacrifice for Freedom
Revisado: 11-03-19
When I started to listen to this title, I had reservations that the accountings would not be enough to capture the sacrifice made on that Day of Days by so many souls from faraway lands, on both sides of the war. How could they? There was so much planning and practice, and then so many lives lost in rehearsals of the invasion (Exercise Tiger), and young men had said their farewells to their wives, lovers, brothers, mothers, fathers, sisters and patiently waited for the green light to “go” and be warriors, and perhaps, to die, but certainly, to be forever changed.
The First Wave had its distinction of being the onslaught the Germans wouldn’t expect and carried a probable kill rate higher than subsequent waves, or so the planners thought. Whether in a glider, or an airplane partnered with a parachute, or in a tank with a floatation skirt, or in a landing craft with soldier-brothers, men by the tens-of-thousands barely out of high school volunteered to die that day, and Alex Kershaw wrote this book about them. It is a book about how they came ashore, dropped from the air, or fell from the sky in gliders – each with a single mission on their mind – secure the beach in front of them from the Germans to preserve Freedom for the World, and if they got shot and/or died…
This brilliant title is so riveting, it is impossible to put down at times, and will rip your heart out times over. It is immensely clear that Kershaw has unbound appreciation for the young heroes of WW2, and he expertly conveys incredible emotion and pride in our men who fought, and those who died fighting for Freedom that Day of Days. I don’t know how anyone could not be forever changed by the carnage of what Kershaw describes in The First Wave. I know I was, and I think of this title as one of the best I have read to date on the War.
I recommend this book, without a single reservation. It should be compulsory reading for those who lead others, especially where preserving our country’s Freedom is involved.

Historia
On July 30, 1945, the USS Indianapolis was torpedoed in the South Pacific by a Japanese submarine. An estimated 300 men were killed upon impact; close to 900 sailors were cast into the Pacific Ocean, where they remained undetected by the navy for nearly four days and nights. Battered by a savage sea, they struggled to stay alive, fighting off sharks, hypothermia, and dementia. By the time rescue arrived, all but 317 men had died. The captain's subsequent court-martial left many questions unanswered

Exceptional Accounting of a Distressed Crew
Revisado: 08-08-19
I read many WW2 books, and watch documentaries about valiant soldiers doing amazing heroic almost super-human tasks that earn deserved praise and recognition from the hell we call World War 2. But when I listened to “In Harm’s Way” I was hit with waves of emotion that leveled me, in recognition of the bravery of the crew of the U.S.S. Indianapolis, as it sunk in the waters of the Pacific during the last two weeks of WW2.
Mistakes were made by Naval seniors that resulted in the surviving “boys”, many of whom had been lucky enough to survive the meat grinders of Guadalcanal, and Okinawa, and were looking forward to going home, having witnessed sights and losses at ages 17, 18, and 19 years old that they maybe they should have never seen. Instead, a newly minted Japanese submarine Captain, having never sunk a single ship in the war, set his sights on the Indy, and in a flash, 300 souls were lost, leaving 900+ in the water, many with devastating injuries, surrounded by a ring of thick fuel oil.
The book tells the story of the next four days the boys floated and drifted in the ocean, with sharks feasting on them at the rate of 50 men a day. Some drank sea-water out of desperation and suffered the consequences despite the ship’s medical officer trying to stop them.
Ultimately, the story concludes with the “blame-game” of how this happened. How the boys were left to float for a total of five days in the ocean with no one even thinking of looking for them. It is a riveting read. I am still haunted by the images of the boys floating in the waters, tied to each other with foreheads touching for many reasons, covered in fuel oil, beyond dehydrated, and crying for help for hours each day.
I couldn’t recommend this book more highly. It is the best accounting of a post sea-battle (sans Pearl Harbor) I have read, and the images described by the author, and the stories told by the men are gut-wrenching. 5 stars for the story. The narrator is totally spot-on, 5 stars.

Historia
Do you believe in love at first sight? Paul Auster doesn't. Paul doesn't believe in much at all. He's thirty, slightly overweight, and his best features are his acerbic wit and the color commentary he provides as life passes him by. His closest friends are a two-legged dog named Wheels and a quasibipolar drag queen named Helena Handbasket. He works a dead-end job in a soul-sucking cubicle, and if his grandmother's homophobic parrot insults him one more time, Paul is going to wring its stupid neck.

A Great Beginning
Revisado: 11-14-18
Enter a cast of characters from the comedic recesses of TJ Klune's mind. They are delightful characters brought to life with the expert and charismatic vocals by the narrator of this story, Michael Lesley. Lesley creates unique vocals which differentiate each of the 16 characters in this tale of love conquers fear, so the listeners can clearly follow the character development, which begins with the very first words in this Book One of the three book Series. It is the story of 16 gay characters and a two-legged dog named "Wheels" and a homophobic parrot named "Johnny Depp", including 2 male couples with one couple getting married. Each character is clearly defined and consistent throughout the Series, a real tribute to Lesley's powerful vocals differentiating each. From the beginning, there is a lot of gay-camp and comedy as the story is told by a beautiful drag queen named "Helena Handbasket" who does twice-weekly shows at a gay bar called "Jacket". This first book presents a solid foundation of motives and character idiosyncrasies which grow to identifiable traits supporting the story throughout the Series.
I waited to write this review until I had completed the Series. This is such an enjoyable story laced with comedy which constantly is so funny, I found myself laughing out-loud. "Tell Me It's Real" is the beautiful introduction of characters that you will learn to love, and is the necessary beginning point for this Series. Lesley gets five stars for the superb accomplishment of bringing life to this multifaceted cast penned by TJ Klune.

A Great Conclusion
Revisado: 08-30-18
This is the fourth and final book in the Blackcreek Series and should be read as such. It is a fitting epilogue for the previous three books in the Series, and nicely sums up the three couple's lives and lays out their future so that we can say our goodbyes. The narrator, Itzvic, is superb throughout the Series, and clearly differentiates each of the characters with voice qualities that at times are very subtle, but none-the-less identifiable. The predictable storyline remains fun to listen to throughout the Series and seeded with enough sex to last a lifetime, with mostly typical life challenges for the couples' relationships. If you are an Adonis-looking partner in a hard-fought gay relationship fraught with familial problems that has progressed to getting married and having children or considering them, then the Blackcreek Series is tailored made for you. If not, then the Seris is still a fun experience. Five stars.
