Amoral, cunning, ruthless, and instructive, this piercing work distills 3,000 years of the history of power into 48 well-explicated laws. This bold volume outlines the laws of power in their unvarnished essence, synthesizing the philosophies of Machiavelli, Sun Tzu, Carl von Clausewitz, and other infamous strategists. The 48 Laws of Power will fascinate any listener interested in gaining, observing, or defending against ultimate control.

Good but dragged out
Revisado: 04-11-16
so basically the author has a set of nine principles that he uses. but the reason is dragged out is because he goes into stories of each one of the nine principles and after a while if you kind of seem boring because you know after reading a couple chapters that he will use the same tactic on the next chapter so whatever chapter 4 is you're about to hear historical stories and personal stories on how the principle of chapter 4 works. now don't get me wrong I don't think the book was like horrible or anything and I think everyone should buy it it is pretty exciting to read because some of this information is pretty self-explanatory and makes sense when you really think about it and do not think that it's a book that's trying to con people because it's not throughout the entire book the author ask for sincerity and respect for other people.

Historia
In this explosive new book, Sam Harris tears down the wall between scientific facts and human values, arguing that most people are simply mistaken about the relationship between morality and the rest of human knowledge. Harris urges us to think about morality in terms of human and animal well-being, viewing the experiences of conscious creatures as peaks and valleys on a "moral landscape".

Great Book But the Verbiage
Revisado: 01-06-16
sam Harris is a good author and he's really great at writing books but not everyone is a scientist or a neuroscientist so sometimes following along with some of the medical terms that he gives it's kind of hard

Historia
We live in a culture that more and more questions authority, truth claims, and traditional beliefs. So what are we to believe about the authority and trustworthiness of a book that is thousands of years old? Is God's word truly inerrant? How is it different from other religious texts? Why should we trust its claims?

Misleading Title
Revisado: 11-16-15
Is there anything you would change about this book?
This book makes you think its about why a person should believe the Bible because of evidence or even philosophically. Its pretty much a book for pastors to be more conservative in their beliefs and that they should take their Bible more seriously. Narrator is dry VERY DRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What could John MacArthur have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Change the narrator and also the title to something that leads people to think its about apologetics
How did the narrator detract from the book?
He was horrible made every chapter seem like it would drag on forever
Any additional comments?
Way better books out there this isn't a must read

Revisado: 10-05-15
The author basically is a cherry picking liberal that says scripture has no authority and that we should all be these passivist when it comes to christianity. Tells you that you can't even really know Jesus because no one will truly understand the Bible so just go with blind faith. I HAVE A HARD time believing this guy has actually read the New Testament. Do not buy this book if you actually believe in God, if your an atheist then he is totally on your side.

Historia
God Is Disappointed in You is for people who would like to read the Bible...if it would just cut to the chase. Stripped of its arcane language and interminable passages, every book of the Bible is condensed down to its core message, in no more than a few pages each. Written by Mark Russell with cartoons by New Yorker cartoonist Shannon Wheeler, God Is Disappointed in You is a frequently hilarious, often shocking, but always accurate retelling of the Bible, including the parts selectively left out by Sunday School teachers.

Historia
Quit defending Christianity. Author Carl Medearis is not interested in keeping Christianity alive. Not one bit. Carl believes it has grown into something that is rarely attractive, frequently divisive, and all too often embarrassing. He believes you may feel this way too. In his new audiobook, Speaking of Jesus, Carl gives us a wink and a grin and the permission to stop feeding this thing called Christianity. His offer is that doing so allows us the freedom to relax and feast on Jesus.

Good but be careful
Revisado: 07-25-15
The author can seem like he cares more about people and their feelings than the truth itself. To me it also paints a picture that Jesus was a passive person when he was not. I like the way that he tries to say let's stop talking church and start talking Jesus but it can come off as if he wants the reader to say like "well Jesus is God but I'm ok with being wrong". Extremely passive and not defensive at all. We should defend the faith because Jesus did we shouldn't be passive but loving with compassion and truth

Gregory Koukl demonstrates how to get in the driver’s seat, keeping any conversation moving with thoughtful, artful diplomacy. You’ll learn how to maneuver comfortably and graciously through the minefields, stop challengers in their tracks, turn the tables and—most importantly—get people thinking about Jesus.

Historia
Gods at War illustrates a clear path away from the heartache of our 21st century idolatry back to the heart of God - enabling us to be completely committed followers of Jesus. What do Netflix, our desire for the corner office, and that perfect picture we just posted on Instagram have to do with each other? None of these things is wrong in itself. But when we begin to allow entertainment, success, or social media to control us, we miss out on the joy of God's rule in our hearts.
