I bought this book and listened to it all in one day. I will definitely be re-listening soon. This is a very concise and beautifully written survey of Christian eschatology.

I read this book a couple of weeks ago, then bought the Audible version so my husband could hear it on a road trip we we're taking. We listened all the way through on the way out, then started over and listened all the way through again on the way back. It's that good.
I grew up within about 3 miles of where the story took place, and the stories Fr. Boyle relates were pitch-perfect telling of lives that were very familiar. I could hear my neighbors and schoolmates voices, exactly as I remember them, and I was incredibly grateful for the respectful treatment of every life, because these lives matter. We laughed and cried, and were inspired throughout.
Fr. Boyle' narration was perfect, and the vocabulary, including the Spanglish, was exactly what I heard on the streets. Gang members do talk like gang members, so be aware that the vocabulary isn't exactly what you want your children repeating. It couldn't have been sanitized without losing authenticity, so it is appropriate. It is a beautiful book, and I know we'll be listening again.

Excellent and much-needed history.

This book is very much in line with other books by Rodney Stark. It addresses many very important misconceptions still commonly believed in our world today. As an amateur historian, and as someone who cares about the truth, I highly recommend this book.

This is a decent translation of the Comedy, though perhaps not my favorite. Griffin's narration moved the story along nicely without getting in the way, and the sound effects at the beginning of each canto contributed to the otherworldly atmosphere of the book.
