Historia
I don't know what the humans are so cranky about. Their enclosures are large, they ingest over 1,000 calories per day, and they're allowed to mate. Plus, they have me: an Autonomous Servile Unit, housed in a mobile/bipedal chassis. I do my job well: keep the humans healthy and happy.

Great coming of age adventure story
Revisado: 02-11-25
Great narration, good pacing, very funny, got some teary eyes from me it leans into tropes but I’m a sucker for it and it helps the story flow nicely. Can be a bit crass but the unfiltered robotic humor is perfect, great story, would recommend if you need a quick read.

Historia
Beloved author Elizabeth Gilbert returns to fiction with a unique love story set in the New York City theater world during the 1940s. Told from the perspective of an older woman as she looks back on her youth with both pleasure and regret (but mostly pleasure), City of Girls explores themes of female sexuality and promiscuity, as well as the idiosyncrasies of true love. In 1940, nineteen-year-old Vivian Morris has just been kicked out of Vassar College, owing to her lackluster freshman-year performance.

Fun, Sexy, Smart
Revisado: 06-05-19
Elizabeth Gilbert never disappoints. She is smart and awesome. Her characters are fun, her turns of phrase and story telling made me write snippets on pieces of paper in my car. It's lush and alive and gratifying. I wish she had been the narrator. I'm excited for this launch!

Smart writing. Smart characters. Intruiging. Engaging. This is not a "background" book. You have to pay attention and it moves along at a nice pace. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and look forward to finding more from this author.

Really disturbing ending
Revisado: 04-20-12
What did you like best about Defending Jacob? What did you like least?
A basic murder mystery, lawyers and cops jousting. It was the kind of book that kept my attention but you could go for moments without paying attention and still know what was going on. I hated the ending. So sad. Such a downer.
Would you recommend Defending Jacob to your friends? Why or why not?
An airplane book
Do you think Defending Jacob needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
No thanks.

Historia
On November 22, 1963, three shots rang out in Dallas, President Kennedy died, and the world changed. What if you could change it back? In this brilliantly conceived tour de force, Stephen King - who has absorbed the social, political, and popular culture of his generation more imaginatively and thoroughly than any other writer - takes listeners on an incredible journey into the past and the possibility of altering it.

I wish I'd never given 5 stars
Revisado: 03-19-12
What made the experience of listening to 11-22-63 the most enjoyable?
The last book I enjoyed this much was The Help. If I could go back on my reviews and just give 5 stars to books I enjoyed this much, there would only be 2- the Help and 11-22-63. I have never been a Stephen King fan. I don't like horror books. I don't care for scare, and blood and gore. I would not even consider myself a sci-fi fan or anyone remotely interested in time travel- though I do enjoy Bill Murray in Groundhog Day. I bought this book because of so many good reviews. I was blown away. I loved listening to it. I enjoyed the chemistry of the characters. I enjoyed how the story moved along. I enjoyed the cultural references to the 50s and 60s and giving that time and place such reality. I've gone to 5 bookstores trying to find a copy for my husband to read as I SO want to talk with someone about this book.
I never liked Woody Allen movies and then along came

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
I could not believe that I actually finished this book. It was awful. I have enjoyed Connelly books in the past but this was horrible.

Revisado: 11-08-10
WOW- this book really hooked me. I loved the way he wove the Lindbergh baby's disappearance with the story. Very captivating and hard to "put down." I found the characters complex and interesting. The mystery moved along nicely through past and present. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to more from Steve Thayer.

Really bummed that this wasn't any good.
Revisado: 11-08-10
I am a Jack Reacher fan. I have read most of Lee Child's books and have escpaed into the fictions easily and with enjoyment. The outrageous predicaments that he finds himself in are entertaining and sometimes silly and reminiscent of some James Bond situations. I bought this book as soon as it came out and was really looking forward to it. But it was a dud. I did not find the characters sympathetic. I found that I really didn't care what happened to them. I was half way through the first section of the book and when I got back in my car I accidentally skipped to half way through the second section- and I felt that I had not missed anything. The narrator was great but the story fell flat.

Historia
New York Times best-selling author James Lee Burke's Dave Robicheaux novels began with this first hard-hitting entry in the series. In The Neon Rain, Detective Robicheaux fishes a prostitute's corpse from a New Orleans bayou and finds that no one, not even the law, cares about a dead hooker.

I like James Lee Burke
Revisado: 09-26-10
Tin Roof Blowdown was my first Burke book and while I found it hard to follow at first, I got into it and enjoyed getting to know the characters. I've read later Burke books and listened to Neon Rain thinking that it help fill out the characters, but I must admit that I like the complexity of the characters in the later books. I like Dave better as a sober man. Will Patton is great and I couldn't imagine listening to other Robicheaux books without him. This book was fine but the later books are better.
