Historia
Yvette Manessis Corporon grew up listening to her grandmother's stories about how the people of the small Greek island Erikousa hid a Jewish family - a tailor named Savvas and his daughters - from the Nazis during World War II. Nearly 2,000 Jews from that area died in the concentration camps, but even though everyone on Erikousa knew Savvas and his family were hiding on the island, no one ever gave them up, and the family survived the war. Years later, Yvette decided to track down the man's descendants - and eventually found them in Israel.

This is a moving and inspirational story. My family is here. I am grateful for the beautiful way Yvette wove her story lines back and forth between the Nazi occupation of Corfu and Erikoussa and the tragedy of white supremacy and neo-nazi ideology today.

Historia
Beloved former ABC 20/20 anchor Elizabeth Vargas reveals her alcohol addiction and anxiety disorder in a shockingly honest and emotional memoir. From the moment she uttered the brave and honest words, "I am an alcoholic," to interviewer George Stephanopoulos, Elizabeth Vargas began writing her story, as her experiences were still raw. Now, in Between Breaths, Vargas discusses her accounts of growing up with anxiety—which began suddenly at the age of six when her father served in Vietnam.

Thank you, Elizabeth, for sharing your story. I learned so very much about myself, listening to your tale of struggle, defeat, and finally, victory. God bless you and keep you in the rooms of AA.

Historia
In Drink: The Intimate Relationship Between Women and Alcohol, award-winning journalist Anne Dowsett Johnston combines in-depth research with her own personal story of recovery, and delivers a groundbreaking examination of a shocking yet little recognized epidemic threatening society today: the precipitous rise in risky drinking among women and girls. With the feminist revolution, women have closed the gender gap in their professional and educational lives. They have also achieved equality with men in more troubling areas as well.

Much needed woman's recovery story
Revisado: 03-21-17
It began a little slowly for me, but after the first couple of chapters, I was more into it. Very good story. I thought I would be bored with all the medical facts, but the interviews with various people in the field were some of the best gems. I have listened to the last chapter more than once. Encouraging.

Historia
Here is a book that has changed millions of lives and launched the modern recovery movement: Alcoholics Anonymous. This edition not only reproduces the original 1939 text of Alcoholics Anonymous, but as a special bonus features the complete 1941 Saturday Evening Post article “Alcoholics Anonymous” by journalist Jack Alexander, which, at the time, did as much as the book itself to introduce millions of seekers to AA’s program. Alcoholics Anonymous has touched and transformed myriad lives, and cont

Historia
Margaret "Marty" Mann is the First Lady Of Alcoholics Anonymous. Listen to this incredible woman - who crusaded to teach all of America, men and women, that alcoholism is a treatable disease. Her life, which spanned most of the 20th century, encompasses despair, hope, and redemption through crusading to battle the pernicious evils of alcoholism, and - perhaps just as bad - ignorance about the nature of alcoholism.

Exciting to hear one of the first AA women
Revisado: 07-31-16
I was happy to find this speech by Marty Mann. I am a woman and new member, so this meant a lot to me, listening to her.
I found her comments at the end about the way women hide their disease apropos and reflective of my own experience.
Happy to have found this. Thank you.
The audio is difficult to understand at times, but as this is from the 1960's one must be willing to leave room for imperfections.
