I don't know why everyone is so hard on the narrator. He sounds just like the narrator who did all the Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children audiobooks. (another great series by the way) This narrator's voice sounds familiar and cozy to me.

I really wanted to completely love this book. I found myself feeling like the whole book was a setup for a bigger story arc. This book was like an appetizer but you never get to the main meal before it ends. Cliffhangers? Kinda, yeah.

A minor critique: I would like to see a fewer lines from the earlier books in the series. -Don't get me wrong, I love Ekeke's work and I adore his cast of characters. That being said, I can only hear " textbook superhero landing" or "perfect superhero landing" so many times, before I start to wonder if he was just tired of describing the landings. This is just an example, but there seemed to be some other Ekeke cliches scattered throughout that felt too familiar. -How many times are Bree or Jen going to be nearly fainting from mere contact with Hugo?

I honestly don't like Bree, but I think she's so detestable because Ekeke is setting us up for the moment when she is either killed off or Hugo finally breaks up with her permanently. I think it would be better if she didnt go dark again like she used to be. Hugo is blind to her awfulness and it seems unlikely given how vigilant and self aware he is all the time.

There is a significant amount of text spent on establishing the fact that Hugo loves Jen and Bree ridiculously. It felt like it was a little bit too much of a focal point.

Again, don't get me wrong, I love this book series, and I really want the series to continue. I suppose I'm just struggling because Hugo has it all, and everything seems to be going near perfectly for him with very few bumps along the way. He gets challenged, but always seems to overcome and/or bounce back. I'm truly hoping that something awful happens and he experiences a terrible amount of sacrifice and loss. I'm not a sadist, but I really feel like it's all too easy for him at this point.

If I'm being perfectly honest, it bothers me how overpowered Hugo is. He has a ridiculous power set, unmatched by any. I think it would be good if he was forced to give up certain powers in order to keep others. I'm not sure how that would come to pass... maybe a magical binding spell or curse or something.

I'm not an author.

After listening to this, I found myself slipping into the narrator's accent. I find her voice to be soothing yet rough in the best possible way. I wish she had more work to listen too!

The story was also super enjoyable. I have now listened to all 3 of the books Leanne Slade has available on audible. Each was unique and delicious with just the right amount of steamy without over doing it.

I love the story and the character development. Drew Hayes does an awesome job of character development and letting us see multiple sides of multiple characters. That being said, I struggle with the omniscient nature of the narration. It happened less in this book, compared to "Superpowereds", but still very much his style of writing.

I find myself wondering if there is another way to explore these worlds without giving so much of the internal thoughts and back stories away via so much exposition. Not sure. I still love it though.

There are so many quotable moments in this book. I found myself telling reluctant listeners about funny parts to the point that they wanted to hear the whole book and forced me to stop ruining the humor for them.

The story picked up right where book one ended and I couldn't be happier. The book doesn't take itself seriously and that's what makes it work. The names of the supervillains? Laugh out loud ridiculous. Love that stuff.

I love how the story is approached from a perspective of silliness surrounded by serious superhero sci-fi stuff. Andrea is a hero but not by choice. She just gets the job done and all the superhuman stuff doesn't stop her.

Loved this book. It had everything the first book lacked and made the prequel book Dads vs the World look like a steaming pile of boring. really hoping there's a sequel to this one. I would love to see Eric, Chris, and John tried to start their own city.

This book is highly quotable and there are some really great one liners situations.

I kept waiting for a big setup and here it is. The story continues with more characters being introduced. I knew Sawyer would end up in jail, and that's an opportunity to introduce more characters. They get out (big surprise) and then it's more setup for the truly big event...in the next book. Cliffhanger alert! It's still a Batman story but I'm hooked.

Ok so it's still basically a Batman/Robin story, but I enjoy it.

This one continues the Raptors story fast forwarded by a couple years and picks up with a heroe's worst nightmare. The bulk of the story is character development and setup for what sounds like a big event in the next book. No need to spoil it, but I'm sensing a return to "normal" will be the result when the dust settles and we see which heroes survived.

I am going to predict that Alex dies.

I like this story. I like the characters. I like the development and the classic nature of it all. that being said, it's clearly not a unique story. Harrier is Batman, basically. Red Raptor is Robin. Redhawk is Nightwing/Robin. Malefique is Joker. Eaglestar is Superman, (mixed with Homelander from "The Boys"?) etc. I admit that I am not up to date with every single story the Justice League, Batman, and Robin went through over the years in various comics, cartoons, shows, and movies. Maybe this exact scenario was also a retelling.

Aside from all of that I did enjoy it (albeit with some eyerolling from time to time). I'll probably listen to the next installment as well.

Oh, and Moon Money is Starbucks (a bit obvious with that one).

If you want to have a really weird experience with this, you might consider listening to The Boys graphic audio book series while listening to the Scions series like I did.
