They came together only for the reading of their father's will - when Snow discovered, to her horror, that she was not the sole beneficiary of his large estate. Now Snow is in prison and Agnes is missing, disappeared in the eerie red dust that blanketed Sydney from dawn on September 23, 2009.

no real ending and unexpected child abuse
Revisado: 01-08-24
I have listened to some of her other books and enjoyed them. But thisnone as much as I was enjoying an okay story that was keeping my interest, I was a little surprised when it started taking a turn towards the child abuse of vulnerable children that it did. Had I had an inkling I would not have chosen this book. The ending didn't not wrap anything up at all and this is not a book that wpuld have a sequel. It is a stand alone and I couldn't see anyway how a sequel could be done. It was an okay book and I usually don't leave reviews but I tend to tey to steal clear of agregeous child abuse so this one surprised me.

wish she would fi d a different narrorator
Revisado: 08-28-22
I absolutely love this series but it had been awhile since I listened to the last one and I forgot how hard it is to push through the narrator! she speaks so perfunctory and like she is reading a script. it takes me over half the book to tolerate it and it still grates at me to the end. But Luke I said I LOVE this series. buti may have to actually read the next one instead of listen.

horrible accents..good story
Revisado: 05-22-22
I liked the story but about halfway through I almost stopped listening because I couldn't handle the main character's accent. she is supposed to be Welsh but has been living in the states in LA so is supposed to sound American. it sounds like a strainedhorrible impression of Abad southern accent but she was supposed to have been in LA. it is so HARD to listen to.

Historia
From the day that old Nana Reja found a baby abandoned under a bridge, the life of a small Mexican town forever changed. Disfigured and covered in a blanket of bees, little Simonopio is for some locals the stuff of superstition, a child kissed by the devil. But he is welcomed by landowners Francisco and Beatriz Morales, who adopt him and care for him. As he grows up, Simonopio becomes a cause for wonder to the Morales family, because when the uncannily gifted child closes his eyes, he can see what no one else can - visions of all that’s yet to come, both beautiful and dangerous.

slow start
Revisado: 09-15-19
The boy that is supposed to be the heart of this story is introduced in the beginning but doesn't really enter the story until about the 15th chapter. After that the book and story start ceyising along... but I did really enjoy this book and glad I listened to all of it.

I enjoyed this book but a little over halfway through felt like it stalled and became a little unbelievable. I got a little bored of it but overall I did enjoy the book.

horrible narration
Revisado: 09-22-17
I really wanted to listen to this book but I couldn't get past the first half hour. the narrator's voice is very hard to listen too. I'm not sure if it is her real voice or not and if it is I apologize in advance. That being said it sounds like someone trying really hard to do a very old and very strong British accent and it is unbearable.
I am still interested in this book but I will be reading it not listening to it.

very good book
Revisado: 09-06-17
it was Avery good book but I had little trouble with the animal cruelty in it. there wasn't very much but it was there. However, it was what was done in the circus back then so it is not blatant or unnecessary. it is part of the story.

Historia
Years ago, just before the country was incinerated to wasteland, 10 men and their families colonized an island off the coast. They built a radical society of ancestor worship, controlled breeding, and the strict rationing of knowledge and history. Only the Wanderers - chosen male descendants of the original 10 - are allowed to cross to the wastelands, where they scavenge for detritus among the still-smoldering fires.

good book
Revisado: 08-07-17
This book was a good read, very interesting but as I got deeper into the book the undertones were kind of disturbing. However, I did enjoy the story. The ending seemed somewhat abrupt and I felt like it needed to go on just a little longer.
