Historia
Here is a delightful look at childhood, written by master poet and storyteller Robert Louis Stevenson. In this collection A Child's Garden of Verses of 64 poems, Stevenson recalls the joys of his childhood, from sailing boats down a river, to waiting for the lamplighter, to sailing off to foreign lands in his imagination. Nothing has ever been written that appeals to a child's nature more than A Child's Garden of Verses. It is written in a simple verse that a child can readily understand.

A wonderful introduction to poetry
Revisado: 08-01-24
This book was read to me as a child. It started within me a love of words and poetry. I have gifted it to many more children as an addition to their own library.

Historia
Boisterous, ribald, and ultimately shattering, Ken Kesey's One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest has left an indelible mark on the literature of our time. Turning conventional notions of sanity and insanity on their heads, the novel tells the unforgettable story of a mental ward and its inhabitants, especially tyrannical Big Nurse Ratched and Randle Patrick McMurphy, the brawling, fun-loving new inmate who resolves to oppose her.

Beautiful and rich language
Revisado: 10-03-22
I was not expecting to hear such beautiful language in this book. It reminds me of Moby Dick in its ability to paint wonderful pictures. The narrator is the best I’ve ever heard. He gives every character their own personality and voice. I enjoyed it very much.

Inside Michael’s craft supply store, cashier Ann Chapman rings up another customer. Then it happens. A loud crack; a gust of wind; the light in register five goes dark. Over the next 23 days, the entire DC area will be thrust into a reign of terror unprecedented in American history. Sniper attacks targeting and murdering everyday citizens will bring the entire region to its knees as a nation still reeling from the recent attacks of 9/11 and the anthrax scare is forced to confront a new type of brutal assault - this time in their own backyard.

This is a really well done story!
Revisado: 02-04-22
I didn’t think I would enjoy this subject but once I started I couldn’t stop listening. It’s very well researched. Very detailed. Interviews with the actual people involved. (the victims/survivors, not the snipers). Also, the narration is well done. It’s doesn’t annoy me. I’m an older female and true crime enthusiast. I recommend this podcast to anyone who is the same.

Historia
In December 2017 the famous porn star August Ames committed suicide in a park in the Conejo Valley. It happened a day after she’d been the victim of a pile-on, via Twitter, by fellow porn professionals - punishment for her tweeting something deemed homophobic. A month later, August’s husband, Kevin, connected with Jon Ronson to tell the story of how Twitter bullying killed his wife. What neither Kevin nor Ronson realized was that Ronson would soon hear rumors and secrets hinting at a very different story - something mysterious and unexpected and terrible.

A really good read
Revisado: 04-03-21
This book has everything I want in one. A very interesting story about a topic I know almost nothing about. A tight, well paced theme. Characters I care about, even though I never expected to, and a satisfying ending. Also, I prefer books narrated by the author as this is. There are virtually no graphic depictions of sex or violence, although the F word is used regularly. I recommend this book to most all readers.

I enjoyed this book.
Revisado: 11-15-20
It was refreshing to hear from someone one liked Curt and who was a friend. It has new stories in it and a personal look at things I have only heard about before. (The last intervention, Curt being very sweet to some other people). I also like to hear a book read by the author. In short, I’m glad I chose this biography.

Historia
In December 2016, the world was shaken by the sudden deaths of Carrie Fisher and her mother Debbie Reynolds, two unspeakable losses. The stunned public turned for solace to Debbie’s only remaining child, Todd Fisher. The son of "America’s Sweethearts" Debbie Reynolds and Eddie Fisher, Todd grew up amid the glamorous wealth and pretense of Hollywood. Thanks to his mother, Todd remained down to earth, his own man, but always close to his cherished mom, and to his sister through her meteoric rise to stardom and her struggle with demons that never diminished her humor, talent, or spirit.

Historia
It was the trial that stunned America, the verdict that shocked us all. On July 5, 2011, nearly three years after her initial arrest, Casey Anthony walked away, virtually scot-free, from one of the most sensational murder trials of all time. She'd been accused of killing her daughter, Caylee, but the trial only left behind more questions: Was she actually innocent? What really happened to Caylee? Was this what justice really looked like?
