Historia
As a sci-fi author with a hit TV show, I have a few ideas about what alien invaders are supposed to look like. In my stories, they’re technologically advanced monsters, with tentacles, and no faces. Turns out I was right about the technology. And about how angry they’d be. But the way they look…that’s more terrifying than even I could have imagined. They look exactly like us. Because they are us.

Fun and light
Revisado: 04-01-25
A fun read for the Sci-fi fans. I don't buy the whole peacuful species trope, but the action is good and the main chracter mkes the storry funny at points. A light read, in general.

Complex intrigue
Revisado: 03-17-25
It is a complicated book for me to review, since it is totally goes outside my usual readings. It is a dense book with a lot of intrigue and a lot of courtly procedures, making it a read that requires a lot attention to understand the role of each player (except the witches). It is fascinating how the author describes the intrigue and the motivation of each Lord and Clan Chief that participate in the struggle for power and the levels of governance each covers. I can recommend that book definetly for someone who is looking for a lot of procedures in a fantasy world. Sadly, the VA in this case is not up to the task for the variety of characters and the tone of his voice is much the same throughout all priceedings and even to happenings outside the court. A read for those who love intrigue!

Mythology with interesting way of using references.
Revisado: 02-08-25
Interesting book round mythology. What I specially liked were the quotes from antique and more modern authos to finish off a narration, making it clear how the myths influenced others. Sadly, the promised analysys at the end is not there. Secondly, it is not really a book for beginners, specially because of all the literature references. Still, it is interesting and worth a listen.

Good and relativey positive SciFi
Revisado: 02-01-25
Quite an interesting SciFi book. It is a very hopeful book with a litte twist ending. The main good characters vere lovable, specially that one AI (no spoilers!). Even if it is not my kind of SciFi, I can recommend this to anyone who likes that genre with a more positive messaging, even with some feeting mentions of terrible acts.

During his journeys around Japan, Smith recorded ancient Japanese myths and legends in his personal diaries. The result is a fascinating collection of historical legends from all over Japan, with themes including ghosts, unrequited love, Shinto landscape, tree and ocean spirits, samurai culture and tales driven by Bushido and Buddhist ethics. Gordon Smith's writing combines a realist style with supernatural elements, resulting in an anthology of 'magic realist' tales which will bewitch and captivate listeners.

The battle between good and evil, God and Satan.A fight older than time. But is everything we know about this struggle just a matter of propaganda? Satan, Lucifer, the Devil, Shaytan sure thinks so. In this letter he tries to convince the human race, you, of his intentions. They are pure. Everything that was blamed on him was done as a smokescreen to cover more sinister motives.

Chilling stories, bad editing
Revisado: 01-03-25
This collection of short stories has some chilling narrations that are a joy to listen to. The min problem is the voice (too neutral in intense moments) and the editing. There is no pause between stories, making it difficult to discer when one ends and the next start. All in all, it is a good colectikn, just be repared for the whiplash.

Quirky and funny
Revisado: 12-27-24
A very funny listen that reminds me a lot to the likes of "Nightmare before Christmas" and Coraline. The last part of the story may be a bit confusing and having almost 50 chapters in a 3hr+ listen may be a bit strange, but the story is a joy to listen and the VA makes good job keeping the quirky pace going. I got a few laughs out of it and I recommend it to people who like weird and funny stories about ghosts.

Good explanation of the classical world for people interested in the topic. Just don't expect an analysis, since its focus is on the numbers and dates. Recommended for people who know little of the Classical Era.
