Historia
It’s the summer of ’77 in New York City, and the only thing more unnerving than the scorching heatwave is the rampant murder, leaving washed-up homicide detective Richard Dietrich on edge. When Dietrich investigates a brutal mob hit the brass doesn’t want him to solve, he goes from phoning it in to getting in over his head. Caught up in a mysterious second homicide with an even more perplexing perpetrator, Dietrich starts to second guess his instincts—and his memory—as he searches for answers at the bottom of a bottle.

Good short story - I could visualize it happening. I will be looking for more Winslow shorts. I love Ed Harris in any scenario.

Excellent!
Revisado: 12-04-21
I loved this book - it made me resent every interruption! Kept my interest from the first. I even want to see an illustration of a sea dragon. I felt every emotion Kit felt. All the characters were interesting and definitely made me want MORE, including the pirate king. Please keep going on this series!

Historia
Fourteen-year-old Mona isn't like the wizards charged with defending the city. She can't control lightning or speak to water. Her familiar is a sourdough starter, and her magic only works on bread. She has a comfortable life in her aunt's bakery making gingerbread men dance. But Mona's life is turned upside down when she finds a dead body on the bakery floor. An assassin is stalking the streets of Mona's city, preying on magic folk, and it appears that Mona is his next target. And in an embattled city suddenly bereft of wizards, the assassin may be the least of Mona's worries.

Historia
The Bodies Left Behind is an epic cat-and-mouse chase, told nearly in real-time, and is filled with Deaver's patented twists and turns, where nothing is what it seems, and death lingers just around the next curve on a deserted path deep in the midnight forest.

I will try again, but at this point I just can't keep interested enough to continue listening. I have backed up several times, just not "something", not sure what.

More Dresden is always a good thing!
Revisado: 08-07-18
Several of the stories in this collection (e.g., Bigfoot) were included in other collections, but listening to them again in this order was just as good as the first time. I always get something new when re-listening to Jim Butcher. I liked how he focused on some of the lesser-known characters in several stories. Again, always an immediate-listen when a new Dresden book becomes available. More please!!!

Historia
When Lily Jacobs was born, she inherited Fazire - a genie. Her family had three wishes and they'd only ever used one so Fazire was stuck in the human world. This worked since he'd become a member of the family anyway. Even with a genie, Lily's young life wasn't perfect. To escape the kids making her miserable at school, Lily buried herself in romance novels. One day, when the teasing was just too much, she used one of her wishes.

This is one of the best romances I have read in awhile. It kept me interested, it had ups and downs, and the narrator was very good at separating the voices. I love the genie!

Couldn't Even Listen
Revisado: 10-25-16
I really like Kristen Painter books - possibly the narrators have "made" the stories enjoyable for me. I do not even know what this story is about - I only listened to chapter 2 and had to give up. I was so bored by the narrator voice I didn't hear the words.

Best book I've read lately.
Revisado: 03-15-13
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes! The book was different - it had its own personality. After the first 2 chapters I found it hard to remember to sleep. I realized several times that I was smiling. Given the subject of the book, I did not expect that.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Henry - not the main character, but dignified, scary, caring, funny all at the same time.
Which scene was your favorite?
Anything with Winter in it - a determined woman!
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, but it was too long to accomplish that.
Any additional comments?
I can't wait to read future books in this series. The book does stand on its own so we are not left hanging, but more about these characters would be great.
