Very strange story

I didn’t enjoy this book as much as Ishiguro’s other books. It is quite strange like a dream or rather a nightmare and rather mesmerising to listen to. I didn’t finish it. I might go back to it one day or perhaps one night if I’m having trouble sleeping!

There is a comprehensive review of it in The Guardian and this quote is from that review:
“ The Unconsoled can seem frustrating, drawn out and possibly even ridiculous. It is tiring to struggle through a narrative where every moment in the present seems to create its own new past, and the future never quite arrives, where for every step you take forward, you have to take three back and a detour around the corner, too. Where if you try to come back around the same corner, you’ll end up in a completely different place.”

This is a fascinating story!

I found this story absolutely fascinating. What happened seems hard to ignore and yet it has been ignored. If what is related is as described then people should be told and it should no longer be suppressed.
But what does it mean for us?

Interesting but ruined by background “music” jingles

The content is good and the narration is fine…but I found the constant horrible background noise ruined it for me. It’s the sound some people call “musac”. Why on earth is it there?

Everyone will get something out of this

If I had my way this book would be part of every school curriculum! More relevant and relatable than the bible!
Rather than narratives by individuals who have had an nde this book covers the whole story and how science can understand this phenomenon. Written by a psychiatrist who has studied it in numerous patients over many years, we get a very good picture of where this can lead us. Showing how the age old wisdom of every religion “Do as you would have others do to you” is what truly matters in life. There seems to be a real possibility that mortal death is not the end of our lives. I recommend it and hope you find it as interesting and uplifting as did I.

The narrator reads well but too fast. I set mine to 0.9% speed and that was then perfect.

Interesting but narration is bad

This is fascinating but ruined by the dreadful narration. The pausation and emphasis are completely wrong. It really spoils the whole book.

Learn what to eat for health and weight control

Dr. Michael Greger has a staff who read all the published scientific studies on how to lose excess fat and how to stay slim. He reads his book himself and he makes, what could be dull, interesting and useful.
This is the real deal. He isn’t pushing some miracle cure or selling any supplements, instead he tells us exactly how human beings should eat for health and longevity and in doing this never need to go on another diet. He is the man!

Deadly boring

I read up to chapter 13 so I gave a good try but honestly it’s just tedious. I would like to return it if I can work out how.

great if you have insomnia!

It’s very relaxing and it sends you to sleep. But that isn’t what it’s meant to do is it? It is meant to teach astral projection but it doesn’t do that. It even says it will send you to sleep.
Just wanted st find out if AP is real or just a dream, but I didn’t even dream about it.
